Abstract

PURPOSE:To quickly retrieve a character string by introducing a control logic means which ignores a control code, to omit the work which removes the control code from an input character string by software. CONSTITUTION:When a wildcard character in the data character string is inputted, it is regarded as one coincidence character to perform collation, and when a control character is inputted, this input is ignored to perform collation. Then, all of sentences generated by word processors on the market can be retrieved. Since contents of each sentence are retrieved without adding a keyboard or a classification code of contents to the sentence, all of sentence files inputted from word processors can be used as a data base to contribute to effective use of information. Thus, this device easily resolves trouble that the character string cannot be correctly collated because control characters used for formatting of sentences are included in sentences.
