Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the reliability of a gateway backing-up system, by causing a standby machine to monitor the operation of the currently used machine in such a way that the standby machine sends the testing data of the currently used machine from its own station of one network to its own station of another network through the currently used machine and compares the transmitted data with received data.
CONSTITUTION: A standby machine 4 having higher priority monitors the currently used machine 3 in such a way that the machine 4 sends currently used machine testing data from its own station connected to one network to its own station connected to another network and compares the transmitted data with received data. Another standby machine 4 having lower priority monitors the operation of the standby machine 4 having high priority by monitoring the currently used machine testing data transmitted by the standby machine 4 having higher priority. When the standby machine 4 having lower priority detects abnormality of the standby machine 4 having higher priority, the standby machine 4 having lower priority starts backing-up operations to the standby machine having higher priority following the priority. Therefore, even when the standby machine 4 monitoring the currently used machine 3 becomes faulty, the other standby machine 4 can immediately starts the currently-used machine monitoring operation, and thus, the reliability of the system is improved.
