Abstract
PURPOSE:To take a measurement without using any mechanically movable part by short-circuiting both far ends of a normal line and an accident cable line and measuring the values of voltage applied to fixed resistances when a current is supplied to their near ends through the fixed resistances. CONSTITUTION:The far ends C and D of the normal cable line (length L and resistance value R3) and accident cable line 3 (resistance value R4+R5) which are equal in overall length and total resistance value are short-circuited, and a voltage E is applied from a DC power source 5 to the near ends A and B through the fixed resistors 6 and 7 (whose resistance values R1 and R2 are equal to each other). If a ground fault accident occurs at a point P, the accident point P is grounded through a resistance Rf. Then a current I1 flows through the resistances R1, R3, R5, and Rf in order and a current I2 flows through resistances R2, R4, and Rf in order to develop voltages V1 and V2 across the resistors 6 and 7.
