Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title film excellent in slidability, winding property, abrasion resistance, etc., by mixing spherical silica microparticles obtained by the hydrolysis and condensation of an alkoxysilane and having specified properties with specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: Spherical silica microparticles (microparticles A) obtained by the hydrolysis and condensation of an alkoxysilane and having a mean particle diameter of 0.01W1μm and a valve defined by by formula I [d10/d90] in the range of 1.1W2.7 are prepared. Separately, microparticles B (e.g., calcium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide) having a Mohs' hardness ≤4 and a valve [D2/D1] as defined by formula II, of 1.1W4 prepared. 0.01W3wt.% microparticles A and 0.005W0.5wt.% microparticles B are added to a polyester film. The obtained polyester film can be suitably used as a magnetic recording tape for videos, computers, etc.
