Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a wire material for dot printer having high toughness and hardness and excellent in wear resistance, by specifying respective contents of C, Si, N, Cr, Mo, W, B, and P in a material composition. CONSTITUTION:A wire material for dot printer is constituted of a ferrous sintered alloy having a composition consisting of, by weight ratio, 0.1-0.8% C, 0.1-0.9% Si, <=0.7% Mn, 2-10% Cr, 0.5-2% B, <=0.05% P, 5-20% Mo and/or W, and the balance Fe. Further, at least one element among Ni, V, Co, Nb, Ta, Ti, Zr, and Hf is incorporated by <=20%, if necessary. By this composition, a printing wire having a structure in which carbide and double boride or double boron carbide is finely dispersed and also having high toughness and wear resistance can be formed.
