Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a water absorbing polymer from falling off a fibrous base by applying discontinuously a liquid material containing hydrophilic acrylic monomer and a polymer mixture and then polymerizing the same. CONSTITUTION:A liquid material is prepared from a hydrophilic acrylic mono mer (example: acrylic acid or the like) and a hydrophilic acrylic polymer (exam ple: polyacrylic acid soda or the like) and if necessary, a crosslinking agent, water, water soluble radical initiator. Said mixture is applied on a fibrous base in a manner to give a discontinuous shape. Then, the same is polymerized to prepare a water absorbing composite. As the water absorbing composite thus prepared adjusts the viscosity of the liquid material by means of a hydrophilic acrylic polymer working as a wager absorbing component after reaction, the same has good water absorbing properties. Also, existing in a discontinuous form in the fibrous base, the water absorbing acrylic polymer is of superior flexibility.
