Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect an amplifier from reflected power due to the mismatching with the load of a high frequency amplifier, by connecting an absorbing resistor to the third output terminal of the first pi/2 phase synthesizer and the input terminal of the second pi/2 phase synthesizer. CONSTITUTION:A pi/2 phase synthesizer 1 is provided on an input side in order to drive two high frequency amplifiers 3, 4 in phase difference of 90 deg.. An absorbing resistor 2 functions to absorb the reflected power due to the mismatching of the pi/2 phase synthesizer 1. The value of the absorbing resistor 2 is made equal to the characteristic impedance of the pi/2 phase synthesizer 1 and the input impedances of the high frequency amplifiers 3, 4. Therefore, the absorbing resistors 2, 6 can be neglected with respect to an advance wave and act on a reflected wave. Therefore, the high frequency amplifiers 3, 4 can always be operated in a well-matched state and destruction due to the force of the reflected wave is avoided.
