Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactory image by providing a power source which can vary and apply a transfer voltage, and a humidity detecting means, and providing a control means for changing and selecting the transfer voltage in accordance with the case when an output of the humidity detecting means is higher humidity than a prescribed value and the case when said output is lower humidity. CONSTITUTION:The titled device is provided with a variable power source 14 which can apply a transfer voltage by which a higher transfer efficiency is obtained at high humidity than low humidity and a transfer voltage by which a higher transfer efficiency is obtained at low humidity than high humidity, and a humidity detecting means 15. In this state, the humidity detecting means 15 detects humidity of the environment, a control circuit selects the transfer voltage in accordance with the humidity, its transfer voltage is applied to a transfer roller 12 from the variable power source 14, and the transfer roller 12 transfers a toner image to recording paper 8 by its transfer voltage. In such a way, a satisfactory image can always be obtained without being influenced by the humidity condition.
