PURPOSE:To improve the quality and yield of a multi-color surface colored body by providing dummy electrodes on the outside circumferential part of electrodeposition patterns of an electrodeposition substrate thereby preventing the abnormal electrodeposition known as bipolar electrodeposition. CONSTITUTION:The dummy electrodes 6, 7 which do not function directly as picture elements are provided near the electrodeposition patterns in which the current density increases relatively so as to eliminate such parts where the current density increases only partly among the electrodeposition patterns and to nearly equal the current density in the entire region of the electrodeposition patterns. These electrodes are electrodeposited simultaneously with the display picture elements. The generation of the bipolar 9 electrodeposition in which the current density is mitigated is thereby obviated and the multi-color surface colored body having good appearance is obtd.
