Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep a minimum spectral line width even if a semiconductor laser used as a light source has a spectral line whose width shows bias dependency, by controlling bias current according to an output of a comparing circuit comparing powers of at least two frequency bands of output from a homodyne-type photodetection circuit. CONSTITUTION:A photodetector 14, together with other components, constitutes a homodyne-type photodetection circuit by which light from an LD 1 is divided into two branches. One of the branches is delayed with respect to the other and then they are synthesized to be detected. The synthesized light 13 is, after converted into electric signals by the photodetector 14, amplified by an amplifier 15. Output of the amplifier is divided into two branches, one of which passes through a lowpass filter 16 and the other passes a band-pass filter 17 and both are inputted to a differential amplifier 18. Output of the amplifier 18 is divided into two branches, one of which is delayed on a delay line 19 while the other is inputted to a differential amplifier 20 to provide an error signal S21. The signal S21 is divided into two, one of which is fed back to a bias circuit 5 of a phase control region 3. Power of the other part of the signal S21 is detected by an envelope detector 22 and is fed back to an oscillator 6.
