Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent white spots from occurring even under high humidity ad to obtain a good-quality image by forming an undercoat layer made of a specified partially acetalized polyvinyl alcohol. CONSTITUTION:The undercoat layer formed on the conductive supporting body is made of polyvinyl alcohol partially acetalized, that is, converted into acetal, such as polyvinyl-acetal, -formal, or -butyral, by 15mol.%-60mol.%, containing residual inorganic salts or inorganic ions by <=5X10<-6>mol./g in terms of the inorganic salt concentration, thus permitting the photosensitive body to be freed of defects due to crystallization in the inside even during use or storage for a long time under high temperature and high humidity and consequently, occurrence of defects on images, such as void or black spots, to be prevented.
