Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce power consumption by imparting heat to a heat storage medium through heat exchange between a bypassed delivery gas and a heat storage medium by means of an auxiliary heat storage means when the high pressure in a compressor exceeds a specified level. CONSTITUTION: An outdoor unit X comprises a heat storage tank 12 incorporating a heat storage medium, e.g. water, and the heat storage tank 12 is arranged sequentially from above with first, third and second coils 14, 16 and 15 for exchanging heat between refrigerant and the heat storage medium. When the high pressure in a compressor 1 exceeds a specified level at the time of heating operation, a high pressure control valve 22 bypasses a part of delivery gas to the third branch pipe side and heat is imparted to the heat storage medium from the third coil of the heat storage tank 12 thus storing excess capacity in the heat storage tank 12 while preventing excess increase of high pressure. According to the arrangement, power consumption can be reduced.
