接触する部位に配設された外側電極と排気と接触
しない部位に配設された内側電極との間に酸素イ
オン伝導性固体電解質を介装し、内外電極に接触
する気体の酸素濃度差により外側電極側の酸素濃
度の検出をする内燃機関の酸素センサにおいて、
前記酸素センサの突入端面又は該突入端面から所
定距離の外周面の全周の少なくとも一方に前方外
部電極を設けて、排気流の外側電極との接触時間
が略均一になるようにしたことを特徴とする内燃
