Claims

(1) An exhaust gas sensor that is inserted into the exhaust gas passage of an internal combustion engine to detect the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas, and has a protective cover to protect the detection element from thermal shock caused by the exhaust gas, flying particles, etc. , the protective cover has a cylindrical shape surrounding the sensing element, and has an exhaust gas outlet hole on one bottom surface of the cylinder, and is arranged on a side peripheral wall thereof in a cross section substantially perpendicular to the sensor axis. A plurality of exhaust gas introduction holes are provided in multiple stages with the hole as one stage, and each exhaust gas introduction hole is provided with a direction changing member.
An exhaust gas sensor characterized in that the direction changing members of the roles are oriented in the same circumferential direction, and the direction changing members of each adjacent stage are oriented in the opposite circumferential direction.
