[Detailed Description of the Invention] (Industrial Application Field) The present invention is applied to a vehicle in which a rear arm, which has a rear wheel attached to its rear end and is swingable up and down, is supported by a single cylindrical shock absorber. This invention relates to a shock absorber support structure.

(Background of the invention) For vehicles such as motorcycles and 3.4-wheel vehicles for traveling on rough terrain, a rear arm that can swing up and down and a rear wheel is attached to the rear end is used.
There is one that is supported by a cylindrical shock absorber made of books. In this case, conventionally, the upper end of the shock absorber was usually supported near the rear end of the main tube of the vehicle body frame, and the entire shock absorber was disposed diagonally. For this reason, the buffer is located close to the air cleaner, which is generally disposed continuously near the rear of the carburetor, making it difficult to increase the capacity. Therefore, a structure was proposed in which the air cleaner is disposed behind the shock absorber and the air cleaner and the carburetor are connected by a passage that bypasses the side of the shock absorber (Utility Model Application No. 56-47373). However, in this case, the carburetor and the air cleaner are separated by a large distance, which may lead to a decrease in intake efficiency.

In addition, the length and expansion/contraction space of the shock absorber are limited depending on its location, and it is required that its agility not be sacrificed.

(Objective of the Invention) The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and is an object of the present invention to provide a vehicle in which the capacity of the air cleaner can be increased without reducing the intake efficiency, and there is no risk of sacrificing the function of the shock absorber. The purpose is to provide a shock absorber support structure.

(Structure of the Invention) According to the present invention, the object is to provide a vertically swingable rear arm whose front end is pivoted to the vehicle body frame and whose rear end is attached to a rear wheel, and which is disposed near the center in the width direction of the vehicle body. In a vehicle supported by a single cylindrical shock absorber, an air cleaner is disposed at the front between a pair of left and right seat rails, and the shock absorber is disposed behind this air cleaner, and the upper end of this shock absorber is disposed at the front between a pair of left and right seat rails. This is achieved by a shock absorber support structure for a vehicle, characterized in that a support member extending over the pair of left and right seat rails is supported by a pin located above the seat rails.

Reference numeral 74 denotes a cylindrical shock absorber that integrates a coil spring and a damper, and is located behind the air cleaner 58 and near the center in the width direction of the vehicle body. The lower end of this shock absorber 74 on the cylinder side is connected to a pin 76 on a bracket 76 protruding from the rear arm 60.
8 (Fig. 4). The upper end of the shock absorber 74 on the piston rod side is pivotally supported by a pin 80 between brackets 32a and 32b fixed to the cross member 28, 30. This pin 80 is located above the seat rail 20, as seen in FIG.

According to this embodiment, if the rear arm 60 swings up and down about the pivot shaft 64 as the rear wheel 66 moves up and down,
The buffer 74 expands and contracts. Since the upper end of the shock absorber 74 is pivotally supported by a pin 80 above the seat rail 20, the shock absorber 74
It is possible to increase the overall length of the shock absorber 74 and increase the stroke of the shock absorber 74. As a result, a sufficiently large vertical movement range of the rear wheel 66 can be ensured without sacrificing the function of the shock absorber 74. Further, since the pin 80 is located above the seat rail 20, the pin 80 and tools do not interfere with the seat rail 20 when the pin 80 is attached or removed, resulting in good workability.

According to this embodiment, if the rear wheel 66 is made of a wide low-pressure tire (for example, a balloon tire), the shock absorption capacity of the tire itself is large, so the shock applied to the shock absorber is reduced, and the shock at the upper end of the shock absorber is also reduced. . Therefore, even if the upper end of the shock absorber is supported on the seat rail, no excessive load is applied to the seat rail.

(Effects of the Invention) As described above, the present invention provides a support member in which an air cleaner is disposed in the front part between a pair of left and right seat rails, a buffer is disposed behind the air cleaner, and the upper end of the buffer is extended over both seat rails. Since it is supported by pins, it is possible to increase the capacity of the air cleaner located in front of it. In addition, since the pin that supports the upper end of the shock absorber is located above the seat rail, the overall length of the shock absorber can be increased, and its vertical movement range can also be widened, without sacrificing the function of the shock absorber. Nor.
