Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 産業上の利用分野 本発明はタイヤやベルトなどのゴム物品を補強するスチ
ールコードに関するものである。
従来の技術とその問題点 −４にこの種のスチールコードは断面が真円の素線を複
数本撚り合せて構成され、この状態でゴム材によシ被覆
されてタイヤやベルトなどに組込まれ、使用されている
。
上記ゴム補強用のスチールコードはコード径か小さい程
これを被覆するゴム材の使用量が少なくて済むので有利
であり、またスチールコードが補強材としての役割を充
分に果すためにはコード強力は高い方が好ましい。
例えば、タイヤのベルト部にスチール；−ドを使用した
場合、走行時に非常に大８な圧＃Ｉあろいは引張りの応
力がスチールコードに負荷されるため、コード強力が低
いと、コード破断を生ずる危険性がある。
しかるに、従来のスチールコードは第１図に示すように
真円の素！　＋４１を撚シ合せてスチールコード（１）
を形成しているため、コード径をよシ少さくするために
は素線径をよ）小さくしなければならず、この場合、コ
ード強力が低くなシ、スチールー−ドとしては不充分で
ありた。
また、コード強力をよシ大さくするためには素線径をよ
り大キくシなければならず、この場合、コード径か大さ
くなり、コードを被覆するゴム材の使用駁が多くなると
いう問題点があった。
間゛項八を解決するための手段 本発明は上記間曙点を除去するためになされたものであ
や、断面が略楕円の形状を有する２本の素線を用い、上
記各素線の長袖同士が常に平行になるように燃り合せる
ことによるか、または、新面が１洛楕円形状を有する２
本の素線を、各素線の長油が平行ｔこなるように撚シ合
せてストランドを形成し、上記ストランドを８〜８本撚
９合せることによって、コード径はできるだけ小さくシ
、かつコード強力を充分−こ高く確保する。
実施例り 第１図に示すように、＋１）は断面が略楕円形状を有す
る素線であシ、この素線（１）を２本、各素線（りの長
軸が常−こ平行になるように、しかもコードの１ピツチ
ｔこ対して各素線（１１に１回の捻れを与えながら、撚
り合せてスチールコード（２）を形成する。
実施例＆ 第２図に示すように、断面が略楕円形状を有する２本の
素線ＩＩを、上記各素線（１）の夫々の長軸が常に互い
に平行になるように撚シ合せてストランド（３）を形成
し、上記ストランド（３）を５本撚シ合せてスチールコ
ード（りを構成する。
また、上記実施例ではストランド（３）を５本用いてス
チールコード（２）を形成したが、スト２ンドｆｓ１を
８〜８本撚シ合せてスチールコード（２）を形成するこ
ともある。
発明の効果 本発明のスチールコードは素ｆｉｆｌｌが略楕円形状で
ちゃ、また各素線（１）の長軸が常に平行に配されてい
るため、従来のスチールコードに比してコード径に対す
るワイヤ部の占める面積が増し、コード長が小さくて、
しかもコード強力を十分高く確保できる。
また、本発明のスチール；−ドを製造するためにはコー
ドｌピッチに対して素線に１回の捻れが入る構造のパン
チャー弐い０式）撚線機を使用すれば極めて簡単に製造
でき７もという優れた発明である。

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. （１）断面が略楕円形状を有する２本の素線を、上記各
    素線の長軸が常に平行になるように撚り合せたことを特
    徴とするスチールコード。
  2. （２）断面が略楕円形状を有する２本の素線を、各素線
    の長軸が平行になるように撚り合せてストランドを形成
    し、上記ストランドを３〜８本撚り合せたことを特徴と
    するスチールコード。
