This induction heating device has the advantage of being able to easily control the heating rate and have good heating efficiency, but on the other hand, when heating a running metal strip, the edges of the strip form a different magnetic flux density than other parts. , as shown by curve a in Figure 1A, the edge portion is overheated, and for example, in induction heating of an Al strip, the difference is about 10%, and it is difficult to heat uniformly across the width of the strip. The problem is that it cannot be done.

In order to solve this problem, by placing a water-cooled shield copper plate on the edge of the metal strip, etc.
A method of controlling the magnetic flux density in the width direction of a metal strip has been proposed, but this method has the disadvantage of causing electrical loss due to the water-cooled shielding copper plate and complicating the device.

In order to eliminate the disadvantages of heating a metal strip with an induction heating device, the inventors of the present invention have conducted various studies and found that if induction heating and convection heating or cooling are used together, the magnetic flux density in the width direction of the metal strip can be controlled. Focusing on the fact that the metal strip can be heated uniformly without heating the metal strip, we installed a jet nozzle in addition to the induction heater, and the jet gas from the jet nozzle heats the width of the metal strip or edges. The object of the present invention is to provide an induction heating device for a metal strip that can uniformly heat the metal strip by taking advantage of the advantages of induction heating by cooling the metal strip and by using both in combination.

In Fig. 2, reference numeral 1 designates a conventionally known pair of upper and lower induction heaters, which are disposed across a conveyance path for the metal strip S, and between the induction heaters 1, a pair of upper and lower heating jets is similarly provided. A nozzle 2 is arranged in the width direction of the metal strip S. Also,
There are metal strips S on both sides of the induction heater 1.
A cooling jet nozzle 3 is disposed opposite the edge portion of the cooling jet nozzle 3.

As shown in FIG. 3, the amount of gas ejected from the heating jet nozzle 2 is large at the center and small at the ends, that is, an inclined heating method is adopted.

Therefore, if the metal strip S is now heated by the induction heater 1, the temperature distribution in the width direction of the metal strip will be as shown by curve a in Figure 1A, and the edge portion will be overheated by △t. However, the width direction of the metal strip S is heated obliquely by the heating gas from the heating jet nozzle 2, so that it becomes like the curve b in Fig. The metal strip S is cooled by the cooling gas from 3 and heated and cooled respectively as shown by curve c in Fig. 1C, and finally the metal strip S is heated uniformly in the width direction as shown by curve d in Fig. 1D. It turns out.

In the above embodiment, the induction heater 1 is provided with the heating jet nozzle 2 and the cooling jet nozzle 3, but the material of the metal strip S,
Depending on the thickness and width, only either the heating jet nozzle 2 or the cooling jet nozzle 3 may be used.

Further, the arrangement of both nozzles 2 and 3 is not limited to that of the embodiment, and it goes without saying that both nozzles may be arranged in one box.

As is clear from the above description, according to the present invention, the metal strip is primarily heated by an induction heater, and overheating of the edge portion of the metal strip is compensated for by heat transfer by the jet gas from the jet nozzle. Therefore, it is possible to uniformly heat a metal strip at a low cost while taking advantage of the advantages of induction heating.
