Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sebum suppressive agent specifically showing suppressing action on sebum secretion, not influencing other organs, containing peony or an extract thereof. CONSTITUTION:A sebum suppressive agent containing 0.005-10wt% peony powder of root of a plant of the family Paeoniaceae or essence thereof obtained by extraction treatment with water or an aqueous alcohol at 15-25 deg.C. Peony shows extremely excellent suppression on reversible local sebum, permeates into the skin extremely well, provides no irritation at all and is extremely suitable for remedying pimple and seborrhea.

Description

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Industrial Field of Application] The present invention relates to a sebum suppressant. More specifically, the present invention relates to a topical preparation that is characterized by containing peony or its extract as an active ingredient, and which has a mild effect on the skin for seborrheic diseases such as acne caused by excessive secretion of sebum. It is a disease treatment agent.

[Prior Art] To date, no compound has been known that specifically inhibits sebum secretion and does not affect other organs. The sebum suppressant sibrothyrone acetate is available for oral administration. Oral administration often has greater side effects than topical application. Due to its anti-androgenic properties, sibrothyrone acetate can only be used by women.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] The present inventors were researching compounds that specifically inhibit sebum secretion and do not affect other organs, and found that peony or its extract was used as an active ingredient. The present invention was completed by discovering that an external preparation characterized by being formulated as a compound can achieve this purpose.

[Means for Solving the Problems] That is, the external preparation according to the present invention, which is characterized by containing peony or its extract as an active ingredient, is an important therapeutic agent for suppressing sebum production.

The configuration of the present invention will be explained in detail below.

The peonies used in the present invention are of the Paeoniaceae family (Paeo family).

[Effects of the Invention] The peony extract of the present invention exhibits very good reversible local sebum suppression. The compound also penetrates the skin very well and is completely non-irritating, making it particularly suitable for the treatment of acne and seborrhea.
