Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a flat, circular fluorescent lamp having uniform shape by winding a straight glass bulb on a drum, intruding the glass bulb in a flat drum groove with the aid of a backing roller, and by accomplishing desired form. CONSTITUTION:From a furnace a straight glass bulb 2 immediately after being heated to a temp, around the softing point is held by a drum chuck 4 with bulb bottom coupled to a drum 5 while held by a tube shuck 3 and the drum 5 is rotated in the direction of arrow and lifted. A backing roller 10 formed in consolidation with a drum body bearing 12 is pressed to the back of the bulb 2 in order to inscribe the bulb 2 with the drum 5. That is, the bulb 2 is intruded in an elliptical groove in the drum 5 using the roller 10, and then N2 is sent into the bulb 2 to form into flat shape. This allows perfect intrusion of the bulb 2 in the molding thin of the drum 5, which provides a flat, circular fluorescent lamp having uniform shape.

(1) A straight glass bulb with a stem that fully supports the electrodes sealed at both ends is heated in a heating furnace to a temperature at which it can be formed into a ring shape, and the glass bulb is transported to a ring forming device where it is divided into two parts. When the winding citrus for ring forming is closed, the lower end of the glass bulb is held by the winding chuck attached to the drum.

In the above-mentioned prior art, the glass tube is formed with a circular cross section. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an annular fluorescent lamp, which allows the cross-sectional shape of the annular fluorescent lamp to be formed into a flat (elliptical) shape.

In order to achieve the above object, in the present invention, in the production of annular fluorescent lamps, the cross-sectional shape of the winding drum for forming straight glass bulbs into an annular shape is changed from the conventional semicircular shape to a semielliptical (oblate shape).

When forming a straight glass bulb into a TI shape, a pair of left and right winding drums are placed in close contact with each other, the glass bulb is sandwiched between the drums, and the winding system is placed with all of the rollers connected to the drums in contact with the back of the glass bulb. By molding,
A flat annular fluorescent lamp is molded without the glass bulb coming off outward from the drum groove.
