Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a metal vapor deposited film with high work efficiency in few stages by partially forming a heat meltable compsn. layer on the surface of a heat resistant base film and vapor-depositing a metal on the entire surface. CONSTITUTION:A heat meltable compsn. layer 2 contg. natural or synthetic wax or the like is partially formed on the surface of a heat resistant base film 1 of polyester or the like. A metal is then vapor-deposited on the entire surface including the surface of the layer 2 to form a vapor deposited metal 3 as a lustrous part 4 on the part of the surface of the base film 1 not covered with the layer 2. A patterned layer of heat resistant vanish or ink may be formed on the base film 1. Since the vapor deposited metal layer 3 is formed on only the part requiring the layer 3, a stage for removing an unnecessary vapor deposited metal layer is made unnecessary and the cost can be reduced.

<Prior art> As a method for providing a partial metal vapor deposited layer in -a, after providing a pattern layer on the base film, a water-soluble resin layer is applied and formed on the portion where the metal vapor deposited layer is not required. Next, a metal vapor deposition layer is formed over the entire surface. Then, there is a method of dissolving and removing the water-soluble resin layer by washing with water to obtain a film having a partial metal-deposited layer.

In addition, after forming a resist layer consisting of a pattern layer or transparent varnish on the parts that require a metal evaporation layer on the metal evaporation layer of a film that has previously been provided with a metal evaporation layer on the entire surface, an acid or alkali treatment agent is used to remove the unnecessary metal evaporation layer. There was a method of forming it by removing parts.

<Example 1> A pattern layer consisting of a desired pattern and characters was formed using heat-resistant orange transparent ink on a base film made of a polyester film with a thickness of 25 microns, and then a pattern layer consisting of a desired pattern and characters was formed using the following composition. 10 parts of rice wax 10 parts of carnauba wax 2 parts of ethylene vinyl alcohol [u] Form a layer of hot melt composition on the area other than the orange transparent ink. When metal vapor deposition was then applied to the entire surface, a metal vapor deposited layer with metallic luster was formed only in the pattern layer made of orange transparent ink, and the other areas were vapor deposited but did not form a film and were semitransparent. It became a layer. When this was viewed from the back side of the film, only the orange transparent ink area was affected by the metal vapor deposited layer, resulting in beautiful patterns and letters with full gloss.
