Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to arbitrarily adjust an air pressure of tires even in driving a vehicle and thereby obtain a proper air pressure at all times, by connecting a compressed air supplying device mounted on a vehicle body to the tires through a pressure adjusting device operable at a driver's seat. CONSTITUTION:Air filling members 5 and 6 are attached to tires 3 and 4 located at front and rear portions of a vehicle body 2 of a vehicle, e.g., a large truck 1. A compressor 8 adapted to be driven by an on-vehicle engine 7 is provided to supply a compressed air through a piping 9 to the air filling members 5 and 6 and fill the air into the tires 3 and 4. A pressure adjusting device 10 is located in the piping 9 at a position upstream of the air filling members 5 and 6. The pressure adjusting device 10 is operated by a control knob 11 located at a driver's seat. Accordingly, even in driving the vehicle, the air pressure of the tires 3 and 4 may be arbitrarily adjusted by operating the control knob 11, and a proper air pressure may be obtained at all times.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Technical Field of the Invention] The present invention relates to a vehicle that is capable of adjusting the air pressure of its tires even while the vehicle is in operation, depending on the road surface condition or the contact state between the tires and the road surface.

In automobiles, in order to meet requirements such as driving performance, load resistance, vibration resistance, and stability, it is necessary to set tire air pressure to the most appropriate pressure for the road surface condition and the loaded load.

If the condition of the road surface is constant, it is sufficient to maintain a constant air pressure at all times, but in reality, the condition of the road surface is concrete or asphalt.

There are many different types of soil, such as gravel, soil, and sand, and it is problematic to keep the air pressure constant.

For example, if a large trunk is loaded with heavy cargo and transported to a designated location, and the return journey is with almost no cargo on board, the tire pressure may be increased higher than normal on the outbound trip. By lowering the tire pressure on the return trip, stable driving can be achieved.

Furthermore, in competition vehicles that run on places where the ground contact conditions of the tires change significantly, such as flat areas, urban areas, sandy areas, or soft roads, the tire pressure must be adjusted significantly.

As mentioned above, the road surface on which a vehicle travels changes in a wide variety of ways. For example, when driving on desert or soft ground, low-pressure tires are generally used, and the tire pressure is lowered accordingly. , -GTo drive on roads, tire pressure must be increased.

Due to the above-mentioned circumstances, it is necessary to obtain tire pressure that is appropriate for the road surface condition. To do this, the tire pressure is usually adjusted at a factory with air supply equipment, or the tire pressure is adjusted by removing the tire. Had to adjust and reinstall that tire.

Therefore, even if it is necessary to change the tire pressure, it is practically impossible due to the presence or absence of air supply equipment and the complexity involved in changing the tire pressure. For this reason, conventionally, even if there is a slight problem in driving, the actual situation is that the vehicle is driven without adjusting the tire pressure.

However, as mentioned above, when driving a truck through soft terrain, especially desert areas, or when using special tires, it becomes more necessary to adjust the tire pressure, so an air filling machine is installed on the truck bed, etc. The current situation is that we are responding by doing so.

However, with this method, each time the tire pressure is changed, it is necessary to stop the vehicle, connect a hose to each tire, and operate the filling machine, which is quite a complicated task.

Further, if a tire gets flat while the vehicle is running, the air pressure of the tire rapidly decreases, often making it impossible or difficult to steer the vehicle.

The second purpose is that even in the event of an emergency such as a tire blowing out while driving, if a tire pressure abnormality warning device is installed, it will not only alert you to the abnormality but also prevent the pressure from decreasing and allow you to safely move to an evacuation area. The purpose is to provide a vehicle that can reach the destination.
