Abstract

PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in strength of a cylindrical member by preventing foamed urethane from leaking out of a predetermined part, by a method wherein a balloonlike member is stuck close to an inner wall by inserting the same within a predetermined part of a cylindrical member having a closed cross section, the inside of which is filled with foamed urethane by injection. CONSTITUTION:A working hole 4 is bored into a center piller inner 2b of a centar piller 2 of a cylindrical member having a closed cross section forming a frame of a car body 1, and a predetermined part of the center pillar is filled with reinforcing foamed urethane. In this instance, a main body part 5a of a balloonlike member 5 such as a toy balloon is inserted through the working hole 4 under a state where the toy balloon is deflated, then air 6 is blown into the balloonlike member 5 through an air pouring port 5b, the balloonlike member 5 is inflated and stuck to an inner wall of the center pillar 2. The balloonlike member 5 is set up to a part corresponding to an end part of the foamed urethane on the inside of the center pillar 2 in a filled-out state. Then the inside of the predetermined part of the balloonlike member 5 is filled with the foamed urethane 7 by injection.

Generally, a predetermined portion of a closed cross-section cylindrical member such as a pillar, which forms the frame of an automobile body, is filled with foamed urethane mainly for the purpose of improving the strength. For example, see Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 48-2631) In this case, a partition plate or the like is provided within the cylindrical member in order to fill only a predetermined portion with foamed urethane.

However, in such conventional technology, since a partition plate or the like is set inside the cylindrical member, the cost increases, the weight increases, and there is a risk that the urethane foam may leak out of the designated area. A large working hole is also required, which poses a problem in that the strength of the cylindrical member is reduced.

The present invention has been made by focusing on such conventional problems, and aims to reduce cost and weight, prevent urethane foam from leaking out of a designated area, and reduce stress in a cylindrical member. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a urethane reinforcing method for automobiles that prevents concentration and increases strength.

In order to achieve such an object, the present invention first fills a predetermined portion of a closed cross-section cylindrical member that forms the framework of a vehicle body with reinforcing foamed urethane by inserting a balloon-like member through a working hole formed in the cylindrical member. Insert the balloon-like member in a deflated state, then inflate the balloon-like member so that it comes into close contact with the inner wall of the cylindrical member, and insert it into a portion corresponding to the end of the urethane foam in the filled state,
Next, foamed urethane is injected and filled into the predetermined portion.

Since the end shape of the urethane foam is hemispherical, there is no sudden change in strength of the closed cross-section cylindrical member. Further, the balloon-like member is completely in close contact with the inner wall of the cylindrical member, and the foamed urethane does not leak out of the predetermined portion. Further, the working hole may be small enough to insert a deflated balloon-like member.

In FIGS. 1 and 2, 1 is a vehicle body, and 2 is a center pillar which is a closed cross-section cylindrical member forming the framework of the vehicle body 1, and is formed by a center pillar outer 2a and a center pillar inner 2b. 3 is an upper hinge place fixedly installed within the center pillar 2. A working hole 4 is provided in the center pillar inner 2b of the center pillar 2.
When filling a predetermined portion of the center pillar 2 with reinforcing urethane foam, first insert the main body 5a of a balloon-shaped member 5, such as a rubber balloon, in a deflated state through the working hole 4. Thereafter, air 6 is blown in from the air inlet 5b projecting to the outside to inflate the balloon-like member 5 and bring it into close contact with the inner wall of the center pillar 2. In this way, the balloon-like member 5 is set in a portion corresponding to the end of the urethane foam in the filled state within the center pillar 2. Thereafter, foamed urethane 7 is injected and filled into a predetermined portion of the balloon-like member 5 through an injection hole (not shown). In this case, the foamed urethane 7 is blocked by the balloon-like member 5 and is filled only into a predetermined portion. After filling the urethane foam 7, the balloon-like member 5 is deflated again by deflating the air, and is taken out from the working hole 4 and prepared for reuse.

According to the construction method of the present invention, the balloon-shaped member 5 is used as a partition member and can be taken out from the center pillar 2, which is a cylindrical member, and used repeatedly, so that cost reduction and weight reduction can be achieved. It is. In addition, since the end shape of the urethane foam 7 is hemispherical, the center pillar 2
There is no sudden change in strength and stress concentration is prevented. Furthermore, since the balloon-shaped member 5 is completely in close contact with the inner wall of the center pillar 2, the urethane foam 7 does not leak out of a predetermined portion, so there is no waste. Furthermore, since the working hole 4 may be small enough to insert the deflated balloon-like member 5, the strength of the center pillar 2, which is a cylindrical member, is increased.
