Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the opening rate of a color display image by alternately disposing color filters of respective colors above and below respective lower electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The plural upper, lower electrodes 3, 4 are formed in a band shape respectively orthogonally with each other on the opposite surfaces of light transmittable upper and lower substrates 1, 2 which are disposed to face each other. The color filters 6R, 6G, 6B of the respective colors are alternately disposed above and below the lower electrodes 4. Then, the picture elements, each one of which is constituted of one lower electrode 4 and color filter 6 on the lower substrate 2, can be disposed in tight contact with each other without forming spacings for insulation with each other. The opening rate of the display in the vertical direction of the display image is thereby improved.

部に交互に形成して配置されている。すなわち、赤色カ
ラーフィルタ6Rおよび青色カラーフィルタ6Bにはそ
の下層にそれぞれ対応する下電極4が形成配置され、緑
色カラーフィルタ6Gにはその上層に対応する下゛電極
4が形成配置されている。また、各下電極4の上下部配
置が赤色カラーフィルタ6R。

材質は約300℃以上の熱に耐える無機質の材料で形成
することが好ましい。

率が大きくなり、明るく鮮明なカラー画像が得られると
いう極めて優れた効果を有する。
