Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize a color-forming density in printing to enhance a printing quality, by a method wherein a speed in manual scanning is detected, and according the detected result an energy to be applied to heating elements disposed on a thermal head is varied. CONSTITUTION:A rotary encoder 3, i.e. one of speed information detecting means, detects the rotation of a roller 2. A conduction width controlling means 5, i.e. one of applied energy varying means, varying the conduction time of a thermal head 1 according to speed information is provided with a charge/ discharge circuit, an integrating circuit, and a voltage comparison circuit. A condenser 15 is discharged for a fixed time in synchronism with the output of a rotary encoder 3. On the other hand, in synchronism with the rotary encoder, TR1G output is outputted from a CPU 6 to a transistor 24.
