Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optimum quality of an image irrespective of a recording sheet to be used, by a method wherein a mark indicating a kind of the recording sheet is read with a recording means, and the kind of the recording sheet is judged to establish electrify conditions of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:An ink sheet 2 pulled out from an ink sheet roll 1 has repetitively each ink of, for instance, yellow, magenta, cyan, and black in this order in its longitudinal direction, and passes between a thermal head 3 and a rotary free platen 4 which are opposed to each other to reach a winding roll 5. Besides, a recording sheet 6 is conveyed in a state of being piled on the ink sheet 2 between the thermal head 3 and the platen 4, and reaches a discharge opening with a paper feed roller 7. Ink is transferred to the recording sheet 6 from the ink sheet 2 by heating of the thermal head 3 to perform recording.
