Abstract

PURPOSE:To strengthen the joint between a head body and a nozzle plate, by penetrating an adhesive through a dovetail groove formed in the nozzle plate then jointing the nozzle plate and the ink jet head body. CONSTITUTION:A gap pattern 5b thinner than a pattern 5a for a throgh-hole is patterned simultaneously with an etching pattern, then said patterns 5a, 5b are etched simultaneously to form a nozzle hole 3 and a dovetail grove 6. The dovetail groove is formed toward the center so that an adhesive spreads easily through capillary action at the circumferential section. In order to form a dovetail etching hole, the original pattern must be thin. Since a thin pattern causes abrupt droppage of etching rate, thus remaining a small hole, the liquid temperature is controlled properly. Consequently, the adhesive permeats through the dovetail groove 6 so as to joint a nozzle plate 2 and a head body 1 firmly.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART FIG. 6 is a perspective view of essential parts for explaining an example of an inkjet head to which the present invention is applied. In the figure, 1 is a head body, 2 is a nozzle plate, and 3 is a nozzle hole. As shown, the head body 1 and the nozzle plate 2 are bonded together with an adhesive 4.

Figures 7 and 8 show nozzle plays 1 and 2 as described above.
In Fig. 7, 2 is a metal plate 1 for making a nozzle plate.

The nozzle plate thus obtained is bonded to the head body as shown in step 6r4, but in this case, it is known that the adhesive strength can be increased by sanding or etching the interface. However, if you scrape it mechanically with sandpaper or the like, the chips will stick near the nozzle hole and prevent the liquid from being sprayed.

A method of roughening with an etching solution is also known, but if this roughening is performed after the nozzle is completed, it will cause damage to the nozzle orifice and adversely affect the jetting condition. Furthermore, either method has the drawback of increasing the number of steps and increasing costs. Incidentally, the applicant has developed a ceramic head body 1.
A durability test was conducted by bonding a metal nozzle plate 2 with an epoxy adhesive, but peeling easily occurred between the nozzle surface and the adhesive. It was made by

FIG. 2 is a sectional view for explaining an example of the method for manufacturing the nozzle plate shown in FIG.
Figures 7 and 8 are used for parts that operate in the same way as in the figure.
The same reference numbers as in the figure are provided. Accordingly, in the present invention, as shown in FIG. 2, the etching pattern 5 is simultaneously patterned with a perforation pattern 5b that is thinner than the through-hole pattern 5a, and these patterns 5a
, 5b are etched at the same time to form a nozzle hole 3 and a dovetail groove 6 as shown in FIG. 1, and the adhesive is infiltrated into the dovetail groove 6 to strengthen the bond with the head.

FIG. 3 is a sectional view showing a state in which the nozzle plate 2 having the dovetail grooves 6 formed as described above and the head main body 1 are bonded with the adhesive 4. As shown in the figure, the dovetail grooves 6 The adhesive penetrates into the nozzle plate 2 and the head body 1 to firmly connect them.

The above-mentioned dovetail grooves must be formed so that the adhesive can easily spread around them. For example, the grooves are formed toward the center so that the adhesive can easily spread from the periphery by capillary action.

4 and 5 are diagrams showing the shape of the dovetail groove 6, respectively. The example shown in FIG. 4 is an example in which the groove width is wide at the periphery and narrows toward the center. FIG. 5 shows an example in which a spiral Φ groove 5 is formed toward the center from the periphery so that the adhesive wraps around the entire interface. In addition, in order to form etching holes in dovetail grooves, it is necessary to make the original pattern shape thinner as described above, and when the shape is made thinner, the etching rate decreases rapidly and the holes remain small.
It is necessary to appropriately control the liquid temperature, etc.
