Description of the Related Art When detecting information signals recorded on a disc such as a video disc player, accurate information signals may not be obtained from the disc due to foreign matter such as dust on the disc. If the information signal includes a signal indicating the position on the disc (hereinafter referred to as an address signal), not only will the quality of the reproduced image deteriorate, but it will also be impossible to search for a specified position on the disc, which is an undesirable situation. becomes. As a means to avoid such undesirable conditions, a control system as shown in FIG. 2 has been used in the VHD system, which is one type of conventional video disc player.

While searching for the specified position on the disk 1o while determining the position on the disk 10
If there is foreign matter such as dust attached thereto, it will be impossible to obtain an accurate address signal. Further, even during reproduction, the quality of the reproduced image deteriorates significantly due to the influence of foreign matter such as dust. In this case, the system control unit 18 determines that it is an abnormal situation if accurate address signals cannot be read continuously for a certain period of time, and stops searching for the specified position on the disk 10 and stopping the reproduction operation. By canceling the search operation and playback operation, the operator of the video disc player was informed that there was an abnormality in the disc 1o and requested appropriate processing.

When this happens, it is determined that there is foreign matter on the disk, and an instruction is given to the cleaning control section to remove the foreign matter on the disk using the cleaning section. Further, when the reproduction signal exceeds a predetermined level and it is determined that the foreign matter on the disk has been removed, an instruction is given to the cleaning control section to stop the cleaning operation on the disk by the cleaning section.

receives instructions from the operation keys of the video disc player, wireless remote control, etc., and controls the turntable motor control section 12.
gives an instruction to rotate the turntable motor 11, drives the transport control unit 14, determines the position of the disc 10 detected by the detection signal amplification unit 13 based on the address signal, and searches for the specified position of the disc 10, Also, disk 1o
During a search for a specified position or during playback, a playback signal level detection unit 13-1 detects that the playback signal of the detection signal amplification unit 13 has fallen below a predetermined level, and detects the signal continuously for a certain period of time. If this happens, it is determined that foreign matter such as dust has adhered to the disk 10, and a control instruction is given to the cleaning control section 2o to remove the foreign matter from the disk 1o by the cleaning section 19. When the level has recovered to the level above, it is determined that the foreign matter on the disk 10 has been removed, and the cleaning control unit 20
This is a system control unit that gives a control instruction to stop the operation of removing foreign matter on the disc 10, and continues searching and playing the specified position on the disc 1o.
