Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a dropout generated when a cleaning member is abutted on a rotary head by constituting the cleaning member which is abutted on the rotary head when a magnetic tape is at the position regulated by a detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A tape position detecting sensor 4 detects the position of a magnetic tape 3. The tape position detecting sensor 4 is provided on the position where the shaved powder of a cleaning member 2 and removed and scattered foreign matters (dust or falling magnetic powder) stuck on the rotary head are not scattered as shown by arrows. When a magnetic tape 3 is at the position regulated by the tape position detecting sensor 4, the cleaning member 2 is abutted on the rotary head.
