Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the temp. stability and usability of a composition in a water in oil type emulsified composition useful as cosmetics or medicines, by using water-swellable clay mineral, a nonionic surfactant, an oil component and water as essential components. CONSTITUTION:A water in oil type (hereinbelow referred to as a W/O type) emulsion is prepared by compounding 0.2-5% or water-swellable clay mineral being one kind of colloidal aluminum silicate hydrate having a three-layered structure and 0.05-2 times by wt. of the water swellable clay mineral of a nonionic surfactant. An oil component can be widely adapted from polar oil to non-polar oil and compounded in an amount of 5-90wt% of the W/O type emulsion. In preparing a composition, for example, the water-swellable clay mineral, the oil component and the nonionic surfactant are mixed at about 70 deg.C under heating and stirring and an aqueous phase is added to the resulting mixture while stirring to prepare the emulsion having excellent storage stability over a wide temp. range.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] [Industrial Application Field] The present invention provides water-in-oil type (hereinafter referred to as W-type) useful as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
It is called type 2O. ) Regarding emulsified compositions, more specifically, oils that can be used in a wide range of oils, from polar oils to non-polar oils, as the external phase, and have the characteristics that the resulting emulsified compositions have extremely excellent temperature stability and usability. The present invention relates to a water-in-water emulsion composition.

[Prior art] Conventionally, in order to obtain a W10 type emulsion composition, HL was used as an emulsifier.
A lipophilic surfactant with a B value of 1 to 12, such as a polyhydric alcohol fatty acid ester active agent such as glycerin fatty acid ester or sorbitan fatty acid dister, is used, and about 0.4 to 5.0 g of the active agent is added to the oil phase. After adding and heating and dissolving at about 70 to 80°C, the aqueous phase heated to the same temperature is added and stirred with a homomixer etc. to form a W10 type emulsion composition (hereinafter referred to as W10 type emulsion). I was getting it.

[Problems to be solved by the invention] However, the W/○ type emulsion thus obtained is a system with superior temperature stability and usability compared to oil-in-water type (hereinafter referred to as 0/W type) emulsion. The disadvantage was that it was difficult to obtain. For example, regarding temperature stability,
At low temperatures, the oil phase, which is a continuous phase, tends to separate due to the aggregation of water droplets, and at high temperatures, the particle size increases due to the coalescence of water droplets and settles to the lower layer, resulting in oil phase separation where the upper layer is only the oil phase. Such phenomena are likely to occur. On the other hand, in terms of usability, since the external phase is oil, it has advantages such as protecting the skin and imparting flexibility in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical fields.
It has the drawbacks of being sticky when used and having a high skin occluding ability.

One way to improve temperature stability is to increase the viscosity by blending a large amount of wax into the oil phase. This method improves low temperature stability, but during high temperature storage, the blended wax The oil phase separation caused by the coalescence of water droplets cannot be sufficiently improved due to the softening and melting of the oil, and new problems with usability such as spread arise.

The present inventors have conducted intensive research to improve the drawbacks of the prior art, and as a result, the W10 type emulsion, which has water-swellable clay minerals, nonionic surfactants, oil, and water as essential components, has been developed. It is an excellent Wlo type emulsion that can be emulsified even with a relatively small amount of ionic surfactant, has high viscosity even in systems containing polar oil, has good temperature stability, and provides smooth usability. The present invention was completed based on this finding.

[Effects of the Invention] The W10 type emulsion of the present invention is prepared by utilizing the combined W10 emulsifying action of a normal emulsifier and a water-swellable clay mineral, and the total combination of both functions as a W10 emulsifier. The amount may be as small as 0.25 to 5% by weight, and by controlling the amount or the ratio of the internal aqueous phase, it is possible to control the viscosity without adding a large amount of solidifying agent such as wax. It also allows the use of highly polar oils, which have traditionally been difficult to incorporate, and has excellent storage stability over a wide temperature range. The W10 type emulsion of the present invention, which has such great advantages, can be used in a wide range of fields such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals by taking advantage of its characteristics.
