There are known methods for masking. For example, using potassium permanganate or chlorine dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, phenol,
There are methods of removing malodorous substances by reacting with ammonia, mercaptan, etc. to turn them into odorless compounds, coexisting with substances with excellent adsorption and inclusion abilities such as activated carbon, zeolite, and cyclodextrin, and methods of removing malodorous substances such as hexachlorophene and trichlorocarbanilide. Generally known methods include adding disinfectants to prevent decomposition by microorganisms, and masking bad odors with strong scents such as peppermint, cinnamon, and orange flavors. These deodorizing techniques are often used alone or in combination depending on various factors such as the malodorous substance, its source, the place of application, safety, and the persistence of the effect.

In methods that use activated carbon, zeolite (Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 6O-178810), etc. for the purpose of adsorbing sterilants, the disinfectant may be inactivated by the components of sebum and sweat, or the adsorbent may become inactive due to the large amount of sebum and sweat. Because the absorption capacity is reduced, the practical deodorization and deodorization effects are often unsatisfactory. In addition, in order to improve the deodorizing effect, it is possible to use a disinfectant in combination with an adsorbent, but the adsorbent, such as the combination of zeolite and benzalkonium chloride, adsorbs the disinfectant and inactivates its effect, reducing its effectiveness. It had drawbacks that offset it.

As a result of extensive research into the effect of suppressing body odor, we have found that extracts of plants belonging to the Cupressaceae family, Arborvitae genus, or Juniper genus, or crushed leaves or twigs of these plants, have been found to be effective against skin odor, which is said to be the cause of body odor. It has been found that it has antibacterial activity against anaerobic bacteria and has an excellent body odor suppressing effect in practical use. These things are not suggested at all in previous reports,
This was discovered for the first time by the present inventors, and the present inventors completed the present invention based on these findings.

To obtain a pulverized product, leaves or twigs of the above plants are collected and pulverized as is or after drying. There is no particular restriction on the degree of pulverization, but since the finer the pulverization, the better the deodorizing and deodorizing effect, the pulverized product is preferably passed through a comb that can pass particles with a diameter of 2 mm.

Although the ratio of extracted contents of leaves changes somewhat depending on the time of collection, leaves from any time of collection can be used. There are no restrictions on the use of the extraction solvent as long as it is a solvent commonly used for plant extraction. However, depending on the combination of solvents, the ratio of extracted contents may change or the degree of coloring may vary, so ethanol, propylene gelcol, water, hexane, etc. are preferable. Extraction conditions are not particularly limited as long as they are conditions commonly used for plant extraction. However, since the degree of crushing of the leaves affects the extraction time and extraction efficiency, it is preferable to crush the leaves and pass them through a comb that can pass particles with a diameter of 2 mm, and use the crushed material that has passed through the comb. Although the ratio of extracted contents changes depending on the extraction temperature, there is no particular restriction. However, if you also want to obtain aroma components, it is preferable to avoid it as there is a risk of volatilization at high temperatures. The amount of extraction solvent is also not particularly limited, but from the viewpoint of extraction efficiency and ease of post-processing such as filtration, it is most desirable to use 1 part to 10 parts of extraction solvent for 1 part of leaf.
