Attempts have been made to restore the appearance of new tatami mats by applying green paint to the surface of tatami mats that have turned yellow due to aging. If green paint is applied to the tatami surface, it will become a dark green color and you will not be able to obtain the beautiful color of a new tatami mat surface.Furthermore, because furniture etc. have been placed there will be a difference in color tone between the untanned areas. Part of the outer skin of old tatami surface rushes is often frayed and peeling off.
Since such areas are easily penetrated by the paint, they are colored a darker green than the other areas, resulting in conspicuous non-uniformity of color tone.

In the present invention, the surface of an old tatami mat is first coated with a translucent synthetic resin paint containing a yellow coloring agent such as a yellow pigment, so that the yellowed areas due to sunburn can be covered with furniture, etc. Even the areas that have not been tanned because they have been exposed to the sun turn yellow uniformly.
This undercoating is done to bring out vivid colors in the next topcoat, so a yellowish coloring agent such as Wakakusa-iro was chosen, and this undercoat was applied to the areas where the epidermis of the rush had peeled off. The resin film also plays a role in preventing penetration of synthetic resin paint for the top coat, so semi-transparent synthetic resin paint with a slightly higher concentration is used, which has excellent penetration prevention effects, and is used to prevent penetration when necessary. Add an appropriate amount of penetration inhibitor as needed. After such an undercoat is applied, after it dries, a topcoat with a blue-colored transparent synthetic resin paint is applied. This top coat is used to form a transparent blue film on top of the translucent yellow film created by the previous undercoat, giving it a beautiful green appearance similar to a new tatami surface. The decision should be made based on the relationship with fees. The surface of the tatami surface has already been uniformly yellowed both with and without sunburn due to the undercoat, and the peeled areas of the rush skin are also hidden by the resin component of the undercoat, so they turn blue. The top coating of the transparent synthetic resin paint gives the entire surface of the tatami a bright, beautiful green color, and color unevenness caused by uneven color tone and uneven permeability of the base does not occur. Note that if a synthetic resin paint similar to the undercoat is used for the topcoat, a large adhesive force can be obtained between the two, which is beneficial for improving the durability of the tatami surface after restoration.

Example: Remove dust by wiping the surface of a tatami mat that has turned yellowish brown after being used for a long time and has undiscolored areas where furniture has been left and areas where part of the rush skin has worn off and peeled off. After that, malachide green in weight% as a yellowish pigment in the emulsion of water-soluble modified acrylic resin on its surface.
A translucent synthetic resin paint for undercoat containing 0.26% and 0.1% penetration inhibitor was applied thinly with a brush. This synthetic resin paint for undercoat has a pH of 8 and a specific gravity of
1.02, with a resin solid content of 28.5%, and not only yellowed areas due to sunburn, but also untanned areas where furniture was left, were colored uniformly in bright green. In this case, the areas where the outer skin of the rush has peeled off should be coated twice to prevent color unevenness and to hide the peeled areas so that the synthetic resin paint for top coating is difficult to penetrate. After this synthetic resin paint for the undercoat has dried, a transparent topcoat is prepared by mixing 0.1% of 0.1% of shinning blue as a blue pigment in an emulsion of water-soluble modified acrylic resin and adding 0.1% of an ultraviolet absorber. A thin layer of synthetic resin paint was applied with a brush. This synthetic resin paint for topcoat is PH
7.5, 1.0 in comparison, 20% resin solids, and a blue transparent film is formed on the yellowish translucent film of malachide green formed on the surface of the tatami surface with the synthetic resin paint for the undercoat. The entire surface of the tatami mat is a beautiful green color, just like a new tatami surface, and there are no unsightly areas such as furniture left behind or peeling grass surface, and the main components of the synthetic resin paint for the top coat and undercoat are the same. Therefore, the adhesive force between the two was strong, and no peeling occurred even when the toe was rubbed more strongly.

As is clear from the above examples, the present invention improves the conventional method of restoring tatami mats by simply applying green paint, and first applies an undercoat of yellowish translucent synthetic resin paint. After this process, a blue-colored transparent synthetic resin paint is applied as a top coat to create a green appearance with a yellow semi-transparent film and a blue transparent film, and the color of the yellowed tatami surface is The surface is primed with a yellowish translucent synthetic resin paint that approximates the color of areas such as sunburned furniture marks, grass scars, etc. where liquids easily penetrate. Since the surface is once uniformly yellow, there is almost no color unevenness even if a thin layer of transparent synthetic resin paint is applied as a topcoat, and the surface can be restored to a uniform green color. Since it is protected by a heavy coating, it is also effective in improving the durability of tatami mats.
