This type of bumper has a stay 1 as shown in Figure 1.
An armature 2 is integrated at the tip of the armature 2, and a shock absorber 3 made of urethane foam or the like is attached to the armature 2, and the shock absorber 3 is wrapped around the shock absorber 3 via a retainer 4 and fastening members such as bolts 5. It has a structure in which the epidermis 6 is covered. In such a bumper 7, the base end 1a of the stay 1 is fixed to a vehicle body 9, such as a frame or a body strength member, with bolts 8.
The assembly of the bumper 7 to the vehicle body 9 is as follows:
Conventionally, a shock absorber 3, a resin skin 6, etc. are attached to the stay 1 with the armature 2, and the entire bumper 7 is made into a subassembly product, and in trim step D in the vehicle assembly process shown in FIG. A common method is to assemble the entire bumper 7 as a subassembly product onto the painted vehicle body 9.
In Figure 2, A is the press process, B is the body assembly process such as welding, C is the painting process, D is the trim process for assembling equipment, and E is the chassis process for assembling the power transmission system, suspension, etc. , F indicates the inspection process, and G indicates offline.

However, in the conventional bumper assembly method, the bumper 7 as a subassembly product is assembled in the trim process after the vehicle body 9 is painted in the painting process C. It is necessary to separately paint the stay 1 and armature 2 in advance, and for this reason, if another painting line is installed alongside the painting process C, there is a problem that the entire line will become complicated. In order to avoid this problem, the stay 1 with the armature 2 is attached to the car body 9 in advance, the stay 1 and the armature 2 are painted along with the car body 9, and the shock absorber 3 and the resin skin 6 are attached in the trim process D. Conceivable. However, in this case, if the "attachment site" for attaching the retainer 4, bolts 5, etc. for attaching the skin 6 to the armature 2 is the vehicle body part 10, for example the front bumper, it will be located near the radiator grille, apron, etc., making the attachment work easier. In order to avoid this, if the clearance between the above-mentioned "attachment site" and the vehicle body part 10 is increased, the "attachment site" will be easier to see from the outside, which will degrade the appearance quality and also limit the design of the bumper 7. This will cause problems.

First, in the method for assembling the bumper 7 according to the present invention, the stay 1 with the armature 2 is temporarily fixed to the vehicle body 9. For temporary fixing, it should be made to protrude or be able to protrude in advance from the regular fixing position X to the outside of the vehicle body, that is, to the front in the case of a front bumper and to the rear in the case of a rear bumper. In the example shown in FIG. 3, a long hole 20 is formed in the base end 1a of the stay 1, and a bolt 2 is inserted through the long hole 20.
1, the stay 1 is temporarily fixed in a state in which it is moved to protrude from the vehicle body 9. The armature 2 and the stay 1 are then painted along with the car body 9 in a car body painting process C, and in the next trim process D, bumper components such as the shock absorber 3 and the skin 6 are transferred to the armature 2 via the retainer 4, bolts 5, etc. Install. Next, the bolts 21 are loosened, the entire bumper 7 is returned to the normal fixing position X using the elongated holes 20 as a kind of guide, and the stay 1 is finally fixed to the vehicle body 9 there with the bolts 21. In the above, the stay 1 with the armature 2 is temporarily fixed at its regular fixing position X so that it can protrude to the outer assembly position Y, and the outer skin 6
When attaching other bumper components in the trim step D, it may be pulled out to the outer assembly position Y and returned to the regular fixing position X after the shock absorber 3 skin 6 and the like are attached.

In the example shown in FIG. 4, a plurality of mounting holes are formed at corresponding positions on the stay 1 and the vehicle body 9 in accordance with the regular fixing position X and the outwardly protruding assembly position Y, and the stay 1 has two bolts. First, it is fixed at the assembly position Y via the bolts 22, and after applying the painting process as in the previous example, the skin 6 and other bumper components are attached to the armature 2. Then, the bolts 22 are removed and the entire bumper 7 is moved to the normal fixing position X. Return it and secure it with the bolt in this position.

is cut and raised to support the lower surface of the stay 1. This flange 23 can support the stay 1 together with the bolt 24 when temporarily fixing the stay 1, and can also function as a guide when returning the entire bumper 7 to the normal fixing position X. The flange 23 may be formed on the stay 1 side so that it slides in a long hole formed in the vehicle body, or the vehicle body panel may be simply formed into a convex shape without cutting and raising the flange. .

In the embodiment shown in FIG. 7, whereas the embodiments up to FIG. This shows a more improved structure, and the vehicle body 9 has elongated holes 28, 2 through which bolts 30 can slide.
9 is bored, the elongated hole 28 is a straight hole extending in the horizontal direction, and 29 is a straight line part 29 extending in the horizontal direction.
a, an arcuate hole 29 extending downward from its outer end;
It consists of B. Therefore, the stay 1 and armature 2 temporarily fixed at the regular fixing position or assembly position are painted together with the vehicle body 9, and then the shock absorber 3 and skin 6 are assembled to the armature 2 at the assembly position, and then the entire bumper is installed inside. Rotate the bolt 30 upwardly, and then open the elongated holes 28 and 29.

As explained above, according to this invention,
First, move the stay with the armature from its normal fixed position to the assembly position, or make it movable and temporarily fix it to the car body, then paint the armature and stay together with the car body in the car body painting process, and then remove the armature at the assembly position. After attaching bumper components such as a resin skin and shock absorber to the armature, the entire bumper including the stays was returned to its regular fixed position and fixed to the vehicle body. There are no body parts that would get in the way when installing the bumper, etc., so the installation work is easy, and since there is no need to leave clearance between the bumper and the car body for this work, a sense of unity between the bumper and the car body is achieved. This improves the appearance quality accordingly, and since the stays and armature, which are metal parts of the bumper components, are painted using the same car body painting process, it is necessary to set up a separate painting line. There is also the effect that there is no When temporarily fixing the stay and positioning the entire bumper back to the regular fixing position, if the stay is provided with long holes, it can be slid without removing the bolts, making it possible to position each of the regular fixing position This can be done efficiently in the hole [3rd
In the case of Figures 7 and 7], if a flange is provided on the car body to support the bottom surface of the stay, only one bolt is needed for temporary and final fixing, which reduces the effort required to remove the bolts. The stay can be easily moved by guiding it through the flange [No.
In the case shown in FIG. 6], if the stay is made to slide freely using the side members of the vehicle body, substantially the same effect as in the case shown in FIG. 5, that is, improved workability can be obtained [in the case shown in FIG. 6].
