(Conventional technology) A thin film of sebum and water is formed on the surface of the skin, which prevents excessive evaporation of water. In general, the stratum corneum of the skin maintains a moderate amount of water, and it is said that the optimum amount of water is about 10 to 20%.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) These moisturizers are on the skin surface and have a physical effect of supplying moisture to the stratum corneum, and this effect is temporary. It has the disadvantage that it is greatly influenced by environmental conditions. On the other hand, emollients have a physical effect of preventing moisture evaporation on the skin surface, and the effect is also temporary.

In order to obtain cosmetics that are effective in treating senile xeroderma, we conducted research on the skin of people with rough skin and patients with senile xeroderma, and found that sphingolipids derived from epidermal cells decrease with age. In particular, it has been revealed that there are fewer patients with senile xeroderma, and that people with rough skin also have less sphingolipids than healthy people.
