Conventionally, in this type of apparatus, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, an incomplete combustion detection element b made of zirconia or other material is provided on the front surface of a ceramic plate burner or other surface combustion burner a, and the output of the element b is used to detect direct combustion. Alternatively, a type that indirectly controls the electromagnetic safety valve c is known, but in this case,
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the element b is generally installed on the lower front side of the burner a in the same direction as the flame flow direction of the burner a, that is, in the vertical direction. Thus, due to incomplete combustion, the flame d changes from the state shown by the solid line in FIG. 2 to the state shown by the chain line. However, in this case, since the element b is provided below the front surface in the same direction as the flow direction of the flame d, a strong draft effect is likely to occur in this part, which causes Air flows in between the two, causing the flame d to tend to separate from the flame d, as shown in the third diagram, for example, resulting in the inconvenience that its detection is likely to be inaccurate. Note that the element b is, for example, the second
As shown in the figure, one of the electrodes can be heated to an oxygen-deficient state with a constant flame burner e, and the oxygen concentration will be increased in the normal combustion condition of the burner a, or alternatively, the heating of the constant flame burner e can be eliminated and the burner Any method is possible, such as creating an oxygen concentration in the incompletely combusted state of a, but any of these methods is likely to cause the above-mentioned disadvantages.

The purpose of the present invention is to obtain a device that eliminates such inconveniences, and an incomplete combustion detection element 2 made of zirconia or other material is provided in front of a ceramic plate burner or other surface combustion burner 1, and the output of the element 2 is In the device that directly or indirectly controls the electromagnetic safety valve 3, the element 2 is configured to have a longitudinal shape extending laterally substantially perpendicular to the vertical flame 4 flow generated on the surface of the burner 1, The element 2
The flame of the surface combustion burner 1 is relatively stable even during incomplete combustion, and the flame of the surface combustion burner 1 is located upwardly away from the lower end of the surface combustion burner 1 so as to face a stable combustion section 4b.

5 to 8 show one example, in which the element 2 is mounted horizontally on the front side of the burner 1 from the side, leaving a lower downstream side 5. In the illustrated device, one electrode of the element 2 is heated to an oxygen-deficient state by a constantly burning burner 6, so that an oxygen concentration is always generated therein. Furthermore, the output side of the element 2 is connected, for example, to the gas safety valve 3 directly or via the control circuit 7, as shown in FIG. controlled. The element 2 is not limited to a type that generates an electromotive force depending on oxygen concentration, but may also be of a variable resistance type such as titania or other material whose resistance value changes with changes in oxygen partial pressure value. During incomplete combustion, the flame 4 described above extends as shown by the dotted line, but its state is as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, for example, with a curved portion 4a below and a relatively stable portion above it. part 4
b, and above it there is a highly turbulent part 4e, and according to the present invention, the element 2 can be positioned in the stable part 4b above this, and the operation can be made stable. In the conventional example, in order to form this portion 4b, it is necessary to make the element b even longer, which further increases the drato effect.

To explain its operation with reference to the diagram, the element 2 has one electrode heated to an oxygen-deficient state by the normally lit burner 6, and the other electrode heated by the burner 1. In this state, the flame 4 separates and oxygen concentration occurs in the element 2, a relatively large output is obtained, and the safety valve 3 is kept open. However, when the burner position becomes incomplete combustion, the flame 4 The element 2 extends as shown by the dotted line and comes into contact with the element 2, losing its oxygen concentration and greatly reducing the output, and the safety valve 3 closes. The burner 1 extends longitudinally in the lateral direction substantially perpendicularly to each other, and the front surface of the burner 1 is opened at the downstream side 5 thereof, and thus the occurrence of the above-mentioned draft effect in the conventional burner is significantly reduced, and its operation is stabilized. It is something to do.

If this characteristic is exhibited, as shown in FIG. 9a, the electromagnetic safety valve closes as the oxygen shortage progresses, especially due to the oxygen shortage. There is a large tendency for the output to decrease by around 17% due to necessity. On the other hand, in the case where the burner 1 is elongated in the vertical direction and is formed on the front surface of the burner 1, the decrease in output is small even in an oxygen-deficient state where the electromagnetic safety valve is forced to close, as shown by b in FIG. In this experiment, two elements with a width of 5 mm were placed at a 5 mm interval in front of a ceramic plate burner as a surface combustion burner.
The front side of the surface combustion burner was placed so that it faced the front surface for 50 mm in the horizontal direction, and the other side was placed that it faced the front side for 50 mm in the vertical direction. was arranged so that the flame extended vertically.

In this way, according to the present invention, the incomplete combustion detection element 2 is configured to have a longitudinal shape that extends in the horizontal direction substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction of the flow of the flame 4 generated in the front surface of the burner 1, and the element 2 is Since the flame of the surface combustion burner 1 is made to face the stable part 4b separated upward from the lower end of the surface combustion burner 1 where the flame of the surface combustion burner 1 is stabilized during combustion, the draft generated between the surface combustion burner 1 and the element 2 is reduced. At the same time, the draft phenomenon can be further suppressed by the combustion pressure of the combusted gas ejected from the lower part of the element 2 where the front surface of the burner 1 is released, making the operation of the element 2 stable and stable. There is an effect that can be ensured.
