Abstract

PURPOSE:To protect a recording layer against moisture by forming the recording layer on a thick glass film and disposing said layer so as to face the substrate via spacers to provide a hollow part therebetween. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer 2 is formed on the glass film 1 having 50-150mum thickness by depositing Al to about 200-600Angstrom thickness by evapora tion on the glass film. The recording layer is disposed to face the synthetic resin substrate 4 via the spacers 3a, 3b which are made of a toric synthetic resin and has 0.1-0.2mm thickness to form the hollow part 5. Laser light is condensed through the substrate 4 to the recording film 2, by which recording and reproducing of information are executed. The thickness and size of the device are reduced by such constitution and the protective function of the record ing layer is improved by the follow part.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, as an optical recording medium on which information is recorded using a focused laser beam, one shown in FIG. 3 can be mentioned. That is, it is formed by overlapping two synthetic resin transparent substrates 1) each having a recording layer 12 formed on one side with the recording layer facing inside, with the inner and outer spacers 13a and 13b interposed therebetween. (For example, JP-A-58-177396
Problems to be Solved by the Invention However, since this type of optical recording medium is composed of two substrates, the thickness of the optical recording medium is as thick as 2.5 cm or more. Because it is heavy, the load on the drive motor is also large.

Means for Solving the Problems As a means for solving the above problems, the optical recording medium of the present invention has a recording layer formed on a substrate of 50 μm=1.
The recording layer is formed on a glass thick film of 50 μm, and a hollow portion is provided by interposing a spacer between this recording layer and the substrate.

Due to the above-described structure, the present invention is thinner and lighter than the conventional optical recording medium that is constructed of two substrates and an intervening spacer. Furthermore, since the recording layer is formed on a thick glass film, it is less affected by thermal deformation, and since there is a hollow layer between the recording layer of the bracket and the substrate, the recording layer can be protected from moisture. can.
