Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a connection to be made without being affected by weight of ropes, current speed of sea near by, and depth of sea with interrupting no marine traffic by pulling mechanically both the end of a connecting rope from a sinker and the end of a steel rope from an off-shore structure onto a work vessel whereby connecting both ends of those ropes on board. CONSTITUTION:A pin connection type socket 21 is secured to the free end of a steel rope 2 connected with a sinker 1 for pulling up the free end of the steel rope 2 on a work vessel 5 by the crane 51 of the work vessel 5 whereby securing it temporarily thereto. Furthermore, a wedge clip 6 is inserted into the opening 53 of a bracket 52 for securing the steel rope 2 temporarily while its fall is being prevented. On the other hand, a guide rope 7 is connected with the end of a steel rope 4 from an offshore structure 3 by means of an ignition vessel. Subsequently, the rope 7 connected with a winch on the work vessel 5 is taken up to draw the end of the steel rope 4 near the work vessel 5 together with the rope 7 so as to be connected with both a socket 41 and a coupler 8 pivotally secured by said socket with a pin 81. And then, the free end of the steel rope 2 temporarily secured on the work vessel 5 is coupled with the coupler 8 of the steel rope 4 drawn up whereby a connection can be made without being affected by weight of the steel ropes, current speed of sea near by, and depth of sea.
