Normally, mail processing operations are broadly divided into dispatch sorting operations and delivery sorting operations. At present, the dispatching and sorting work has been mechanized by automatic mail sorting, sorting, stamping machines and automatic mail reading and sorting machines, resulting in significant labor savings. However, delivery sorting operations still have to rely on manual labor, and there is an urgent need to mechanize the process. The main work is to read all of the address information including ○○ ward, ○○ street, ○○ number, ○○ street, ○○ residence, and the address, and in the final step, the delivery person will make a delivery in the delivery area he or she is responsible for. The task involves arranging mail pieces one by one in an easy-to-follow direction (known as juntatsu), and the job gives off a ``craftsman-like'' feel. Up until now, there have been some drawbacks to mechanizing this process: (a) It is difficult to develop OCR that can read all addresses in place of humans, and (b) It is difficult to efficiently arrange the order of mail. It was because of that.

Hereinafter, one embodiment of the present invention will be described based on the drawings. 1 in the figure is an optical reader of handwritten digits (hereinafter referred to as OCR), and this OCR 1 includes a conveyance path 2.
A code printing section 3, a coding desk 4, a code printing section 5, and a sorter 6 are sequentially connected through the code printing section 3. Further, the OCR 1 and the coding desk 4 are connected via a reject conveyance path 7. The OCR 1 reads destination information written on a postcard as an information recording sheet, and the postcard is structured as shown in FIG. 2. That is, this postcard 8 has a first entry field 10 in the shape of a red frame in which a postal code 9 for dispatch classification is written on the upper side of the front page, and a space opposite to this first entry field 10 is provided. On the lower side thereof, there is a second entry field 11 having the same shape as the first entry field 10 and shaped like a red frame. In addition, on one side of the front page of the postcard 8, there is a kanji display area 1 for the town name D.
Destination information 12 consisting of 3 and a number display section 14 of Chome E and below is written. Numbers corresponding to numbers A, B, and C in the number display section 14 of this destination information 12
A′, B′, and C′ are to be entered, and these numbers A′, B′, and C′ are entered by the user.

When postcards 8 that have been sorted for dispatch based on ... are to be sorted for delivery based on their destination information 12, the postcards 8 are first input into the OCR 1. In this OCR 1, by reading the numbers A', B', and C' written in the second entry field 11 of the postcard 8, the numbers A, B, and C in the number display section 14 of the destination information 12 are read. . The postcard 8 on which these numbers A, B, and C have been read is sent to the code printing section 3, where a code based on the reading results is printed on the paper surface of the postcard 8. Next, this postcard 8 is conveyed to the coding desk 4, and along the way, the address information 1
The town name D on the kanji display section 13 of No. 2 is read visually by the operator, and this is further coded by keying in the coding desk 4. As a result, all of the final sorting information of the postcards 8 is encoded, and the postcards 8 are sorted by the sorter 6 according to their destinations.

Postcard 8 where the numbers A, B, and C of 4 are not readable
is sent to the coding desk 4 via the redirect conveyance path 7, where the operator visually reads the numeric display section 14 and codes it by keying in the coding desk 4. Furthermore, the kanji display section 13 of the destination information 12 is visually read and encoded in the same manner as described above.

As explained above, the present invention has the same shape as the postal code entry column provided at the top of the paper and has a shelf for writing the corresponding number in the numerical display section of the destination information written on the paper, so it is different from the conventional one. The numerical part of the entry shelf can be read using an optical number reader, which reduces input time and improves sorting work efficiency compared to the conventional case where an operator reads and inputs all destination information. This has the effect of significantly improving the
