この発明は、カラー液晶表示素子の透明基板に電極に対

質5を所定の色特性を有する染色液に浸して染色し、第
一色目の赤色のカラーフィルタ5Rを形成する(工程d
)。そして、カラーフィルタ5Rの染色液を基質5に固
着させ、かつこのカラーフィルタ5Rに他の染色液が染
着しないように、電極基板1の上面の全体に、タンニン
・吐酒石法や樹脂コート法で第一層目の防染膜6を形成

程の繰返しにより、第三色目の例えば青色のカラーフィ
ルタを施すべき電極2の上に同様に青色のカラーフィル
タ6Bを形成し、かつこのカラフィルタ6Bを第三層目
の防染18で覆う。そして、最後に電極基板1の上の全

っても何ら差支えなく、この発明における水溶性樹脂と

基板の上に塗布するようにしたから、基板に対する濡れ
性が改善され、したがって−〇−
水溶性樹脂が僅かな量であっても基板の上に広く拡散さ
せて均一に分布させることができ、このため水溶性樹脂
の使用量を抑えて経済性の向上を図れ、また水溶性樹脂
の広がりがよいから、ピンホールの発生を防止でき、信
