Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a weatherstrip by separate extrusion of trim section and sponge seal section and ultraviolet irradiation on the adherend surface of the seal section followed by coating the adherend surfaces of the both sections with non-yellowing urethane adhesive to perform lamination. CONSTITUTION:A trim section 1 made of vinyl chloride resin and sponge seal section 5 made of ethylene-propylene-diene three-component copolymer rubber (hereafter referred to EPDM) are subjected to extrusion forming in a separate manner. Next, the adherend surface 6 of the sponge seal section 5 is irradiated for several-several hundreds sec. with ultraviolet rays of wavelengths 1-380nm with a distance 1-1,000mm to oxidize the EPDM polymer to make the SP-value close to that of polyurethane followed by coating the both adherend surfaces 2 and 6 of the sections 1 and 5, respectively, with non-yellowing urethane adhesive, drying the both surfaces 2 and 6 and performing lamination to effect integration of the both sections 1 and 5, thus obtaining the objective weatherstrip.

<Prior art>Today's weather strips are required to have brighter colors in the trim part and strict sealing properties in the sponge seal part, so it is possible to easily satisfy each of these requirements. The material, i.e. the trim part, is made of vinyl chloride resin (
rPVcJ), and the sponge seal part is made of ethylene propylene diene terpolymer rubber (rEPDM).
Manufactured by J). In this case, PVC and EPDM are resin and sponge rubber, and the former has an SP value of 9.4.
Since the latter has a large difference of 7.9, it is difficult to bond the trim part and the sponge seal part when extruding them together.

For this reason, in the past, chloroprene rubber (CR) was used on each adhering surface of the trim part and sponge seal part, which were extruded separately.
After applying a primer grafted with polymethyl methacrylate, a two-part type C consisting of polyisocyanate and CR is applied.
The reason for using the above-mentioned two-component CR adhesive is to apply an R-based adhesive and press-bond both surfaces. The reason for using the two-component CR adhesive is that This is because its adhesive strength is much superior to that of other urethane-based adhesives.

With the Tamaki CR adhesive, in order to obtain sufficient adhesive strength, it is necessary to apply the adhesive to both the adhesion surfaces 2.6 of the trim part 1 and the sponge seal part 5, but the adhesion surface of the trim part In 2,
When attaching the sponge seal portion 5, adhesive was applied slightly widely to absorb positional variations. For this reason, an adhesive protrusion portion 3 occurs on the trim portion 1, but 1:
CR-based adhesives do not have good light resistance, and in the case of weather strips that are frequently exposed to sunlight, there is a problem that the adhesive protrusion 3 quickly discolors and the design quality is significantly reduced. Ta. Further, CR adhesives do not have very good colorless transparency, and even before they change color, there are some design problems.

A PVC trim part and an EPDM sponge seal part are extruded separately. 1 After applying a non-yellowing urethane adhesive to each adhering surface of both parts, the two adhering surfaces are pasted together. This is a method for manufacturing a weather strip that is integrated with adhesive, and is characterized in that, prior to applying an adhesive to the surface of the sponge seal portion, the surface to be adhered to is subjected to ultraviolet irradiation treatment.

Adhesive application is carried out by roll, brush, spray, etc. After application, after drying both adhesion surfaces, by pasting both adhesion surfaces 2 and 6, trim part l and sponge The seal portion 5 is bonded and integrated to obtain a weather strip. It should be noted that, although a primer may be applied to the adherend surface 6 of the sponge seal portion prior to applying the adhesive, it goes without saying that the ultraviolet irradiation treatment is performed prior to the application of the brimer.

The trim part l is made of PVC and has a SP value close to that of polyurethane (PVC: 9.4, polyurethane: 10), so it has good adhesion and does not require ultraviolet irradiation treatment.
In fact, there is a risk that the chlorine will evaporate and the trim portion 1 will change color, which is not desirable.

<Effects of the Invention> The method for producing a weather strip of the present invention involves separately extruding a PVC trim portion and an EPDM sponge seal portion, and applying non-yellowing urethane adhesive to each adhering surface of both. After applying the adhesive, the two surfaces are bonded together to form a single adhesive. Before applying the adhesive to the surface of the sponge seal, the surface to be adhered to is treated with ultraviolet rays. With this configuration, the following effects can be achieved.

As shown in the examples below, the tensile adhesive strength is superior to, but not inferior to, the case where a CR adhesive is used between the adhered surfaces of the sponge seal part and the trim part, and the peel strength is also lower. It is much better. In addition, as a matter of course, since we used a non-modified urethane adhesive that is colorless and transparent, even if there is a protruding part of the adhesive, it will not stand up and will not change color over a long period of time. The sex is in the opposite direction.

The reason why good adhesion is obtained between the adhered surfaces of the sponge seal part and the trim part is that - is oxidized in the poly of E PDM forming the sponge seal part by ultraviolet irradiation. It becomes polar and polyurethane (
This is presumed to be because the difference from the SP value (approximately #10) becomes smaller, and the wettability of the polyurethane adhesive to the sponge seal portion increases.
