Abstract

PURPOSE:To exclude the danger of alkaline ink due to the leakage of ink from a waste tank to a human body or the corrosion of a waste ink holding case and an absorbing material by said ink, by containing an ink neutralizing component in the ink absorbing member of a discharged ink recovery part. CONSTITUTION:A discharged ink recovery part is constituted of a waste ink tank case 12, an air passing hole 13, an absorbing material 14, a neutralizing agent 15 and a conduit 16. By charging the neutralizing agent 15 in the absorbing material 14, waste ink generates the neutralizing reaction with the neutralizing agent 15 when held in the absorbing material 14 and the alkalinity of the ink can be relaxes. As a result, the danger of the alkaline ink due to the leakage of the ink from the waste ink tank to a human body and the corrosion of the case 12 holding the waste ink and the absorbing material 14 can be excluded.

In the inkjet recording method, ink is ejected from the nozzles of a recording head, and recording is performed by layering the ink onto a recording material. The ink is generally alkaline with a pEI value of 9 or more in order to provide good ink corrosion prevention and quick drying properties on plain paper.

Conventionally, as shown in FIG. 1, when discharging the ink filled in the nozzles of the head 5 from the ink tank 1 through the conduit 4, an absorption camp 7 is attached to the nozzle end surface 6 of the head 5, and an absorption pump 9 is used. The flow path can be cleaned by activating the flow path and then switching the switching valve 5 to connect the conduit 4 and the cleaning liquid tank 2. The discharged ink and the cleaning liquid are transferred to the pump 5 and the conduit 4 by the operation of the suction pump 9.
The waste liquid is collected from the waste liquid tank 10, absorbed and retained by the absorbent material 11 in the waste liquid tank 10, and disposed of as is. Conventionally, no treatment has been taken for the waste ink contained in the absorbent material in the waste liquid tank.

Inkjet recording inks are alkaline, with a pH value of 9 or more, because of the direct dye component, and to ensure good corrosion prevention of the materials constituting the ink system and good quick drying properties on plain paper. Therefore, since the ink has a strong skin irritation to the human body, if the case is damaged when the waste liquid tank is disposed of, the absorbent material is destroyed and the ink leaks, creating a danger. In addition, the ink may corrode and dissolve plastic waste liquid tank cases and absorbent materials made of polyester or polyamide fibers, which limits the selection of materials to be used. The present invention is intended to solve these conventional problems, and its purpose is to provide an inkjet recording system equipped with a new waste liquid tank that eliminates the problems caused by the alkaline nature of the collected discharged ink. The purpose is to provide equipment.

The ink recovery section according to the present invention will be explained using FIG. 2. As shown in Figure 2, the ink recovery section
712, ventilation hole 15, absorbent material 14, neutralizer 15, conduit 1
Consists of 6. Normally, if air bubbles exist in the nozzle of the hem 5 in FIG. 1 during printing, pressure will not be transmitted to the ink in the nozzle, and the ink will not be ejected from the end face 6 of the nozzle. Therefore, in order to remove air bubbles, the absorption cap 7 is attached to the nozzle end face 6, the absorption pump 9 is operated, the discharged ink is collected in the waste liquid tank 10, and the absorption member 1
However, if the case is damaged, it may leak from the sink case, causing various dangers. In other words, inkjet inks are generally alkaline due to dye dissolution stabilizers such as sodium carbonate and sodium phosphate, and corrosion inhibitors such as amines. For printing, a highly alkaline pH of 12 to 14 is appropriate;
H7714 is alkaline and there is a risk of ink getting into your eyes or adhering to your skin, irritating your eyes and skin mucous membranes.

Because it is abrasive and alkaline, the ink may corrode and dissolve the case and absorbent material. Therefore, in the present invention, when the waste ink shown in FIG. , neutralizer 1st-
When the waste ink is charged and retained in the absorbent 14, the risk of reducing the alkalinity of the ink by causing a neutralization reaction between the neutralizing agent 15 and the waste ink can be eliminated. As the neutralizing agent, it is desirable to use a safe acid that does not generate heat when mixed with the ink and allows for a wide selection of materials.

Further, it is more desirable that the neutralizing agent is usually solid so that the neutralizing agent does not leak from the tank. Examples of the neutralizing agent used in the present invention include acetic acid, boric acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid. In particular, boric acid is good because it is solid and generates little heat. In addition, as an example of a waste liquid tank configuration,
A liquid neutralizing agent may be charged into stacked absorbent sheets as shown in Figure 2, a solid neutralizing agent may be placed between folded absorbent sheets as shown in Figure 6, or a solid neutralizing agent may be placed between folded absorbent sheets as shown in Figure 6.
As shown in the figure, it is also possible to make a hole in the top of the layered absorbent material and fill it with a solid neutralizing agent.

A similar test was conducted using 1 g of acetic acid, citric acid, glycolic acid, and lactic acid in an absorbent material, and the results are shown in the table below. Mamata,
The waste liquid tank containing 1 g of the neutralizing agent and collecting 100 d of ink was placed in a thermostat at 70°C for 150 min.
The table below shows the presence or absence of corrosion caused by the ink on the plastic case and the polyester fiber absorbent material after hr exposure. For comparison, we conducted a similar test without using a neutralizing agent. [Effects of the invention] Corrosion caused by ink to the absorbent material could be removed.
