Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten a system program loading time which is spent at the time of turning on a power source, by switching a storage of a system program from a file device to a non-volatile memory. CONSTITUTION:A system program is stored in advance in a non-volatile memory BUN. Also, a routine for reading out a file device if a specified key on a keyboard KB is on, and reading in the non-volatile memory BUM is said key is off is provided in advance in a loader program in a ROM. In such a way, at the time of turning on a power source, if the specified key of the keyboard KB is turned off, a CPU executes the system program of the non-volatile memory BUM, therefore, a system rises in a short time after the time when the power source has been turned on. On the other hand, at the time of a repair and an inspection of the system, the specified key is turned on in advance, by which at the time of turning on the power source, the system program in the file device is executed, therefore, the system rises in the same way as usual.

The conventional system startup method described above uses a format in which the system program is loaded from the file device, which has the disadvantage that the system program cannot be loaded until the file device becomes ready (readable). Ta.

Taking as an example a floppy disk device (FD) and a fixed disk device (HD) that are used as file devices, the time it takes to turn on the power and wait for the floppy disk device to turn on the water is about 4 seconds, and the time for each floppy disk device is fixed. Since the disk device requires about 15 seconds, it inevitably takes a long time to load the system program.

In the system program loading method of the present invention, a nonvolatile memory IJ (BUM) is prepared in a part of the memory of an electronic computer, and the system program, that is, the operating system (OSL) is loaded with parameters as necessary. It is stored in the minimum application program (AP) required for initial operations such as registration. Also, if a certain key is turned on (pressed down) in the loader program of read-only memory, access to the file device is possible. Then, if the key is OFF (not pressed), a routine is provided that moves to accessing the nonvolatile memory.

When the power is turned on, the CPU executes the loader program in the read-only memory, and at that time, if the specific key is OFF, the system program 2 can be immediately loaded from the non-volatile memory, which speeds up the system startup process. It gets faster. On the other hand, when the computer is to be repaired or inspected, the system program can be loaded from the file device in the same manner as in the past by turning on the specific key.

Next, as a preparation for explaining this invention with reference to all the drawings, initial operations such as system program, knob operating system (OS), and noise parameter registration as necessary are stored in a non-volatile memory IJ BUM (battery backup memory). Minimum application required for
Store the remote control program (AP). Also, during the loader program in the read-only memo IJ ROM, on the key date, the status of a specific key on -B is read, and this is O.
A routine is provided that reads the file device if the key is N (depressed) and reads the nonvolatile memo IJ BUM if the key is 0FF (not pressed).

The operation is as follows. When the power is turned on, the CPU loads the loader program in the ROM and executes the program.
If it is an FF, the loader program will execute the system program in the nonvolatile memory BUM, so the system will start up in a shorter time than when the power is turned on.
