Abstract

PURPOSE:A cosmetic containing purified babassu oil capable of imparting a light feeling without stickiness and acting as an excellent emollient agent. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic composition containing purified babassu oil. The babassu oil is a nondrying oil obtained from the nucleus of a fruit of a plant babassu palm of the family Arecaceae and consists mainly of triglyceride of an 8-18C fatty acid. Since the number of carbon atoms is relatively small, the babassu oil is a liquid or soft and ideal cosmetic raw material though the degree of unsaturation is low. Crude purified babassu oil obtained by subjecting babassu oil to distillation, oxidative bleaching, adsorption, etc., is dissolved in a nonpolar solvent, passed through an adsorption column to adsorb and remove polar impurities and the nonpolar solvent is distilled away to afford the aimed purified babassu oil having highly improved peculiar smell, hue and particularly stability to oxidative deterioration with time. The above-mentioned cosmetic has high emollient property and good feeling of use with slight oiliness.

Detailed Description of the Invention (Field of Industrial Application) This invention relates to a cosmetic composition characterized by containing babassu oil, and its purpose is to improve the appearance of cosmetic compositions due to its color and odor. To provide a cosmetic composition in which babassu oil, which has never been used as a blended oil, is utilized and blended into the cosmetic composition.

(Prior Art and Its Disadvantages) Conventionally, natural oils and fats such as olive oil, camellia oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, and coconut oil have been used as blended oils in cosmetic compositions.

However, cosmetics containing these natural oils have a sticky, oily, moist feel on the skin surface, and these natural liquid oils cannot be said to be ideal as raw materials for cosmetics.

On the other hand, babassu oil is known as a natural oil, but it has problems with its unique odor, color, and oxidation stability over time. It has little use other than as a raw material for soaps, and has never been considered as a raw material for cosmetics, where color and other factors have a large effect on commercial value.

(Structure of the Invention) The babassu oil used in this invention is babassu palm (Orbignya marti), a plant of the Juro family that is produced in South America, etc.
It is a non-drying oil obtained from the kernel of the fruit of ana (0,olefera), and is mainly composed of triglycerides of fatty acids having 8 to 18 carbon atoms.

The reason why babassu oil is used as a raw material for the cosmetic composition in this invention is that babassu oil is naturally present in the structure of triglyceride oil, and has a relatively small number of carbon atoms, so it is liquid even though it has a low degree of unsaturation. Another reason is that it is soft and has many uses as an ideal raw material for cosmetics.

In other words, babassu oil contains about 10 times more oleic acid in its constituent fatty acids than coconut oil, and compared to coconut oil, which is normally used as a raw material for cosmetics, babassu oil feels smoother and less oily on the skin. This is because it gives an excellent feel as a raw material for cosmetics.

The babassu oil used in this invention is purified and mainly in the form of fatty acid triglycerides, and can be obtained using conventional crude purification methods for natural oils and fats, such as distillation, batch oxidative bleaching, activated clay and/or activated carbon, etc. This includes adsorption treatment, steam blowing treatment, hydrogenation treatment, or, if necessary, crude purification treatment by adding means such as molecular distillation to these treatments.

In this invention, such crudely purified babassu oil is dissolved in a non-polar solvent, passed through an adsorption column filled with an adsorbent, and polar impurities are adsorbed and removed using a column chromatographic circulation method. It is more desirable to use a product purified by a purification method consisting of a combination of a column chromatographic cyclic purification step in which a polar solvent is distilled off.

Here, the column chromatographic circulation method refers to a method in which polar impurities are removed by passing unsaturated fats and oils dissolved in the non-polar solvent through an adsorption tower filled with the adsorbent, either once or in circulation.

If babassu oil is refined from the rough refining stage in this way,
Babassu oil, which is a higher fatty acid triglyceride oil, is purified by column chromatography to remove polar impurities from crude unsaturated babassu oil, making the liquid state more colorless and transparent when dissolved (above the melting point) and oxidation resistant over time. It is possible to prepare refined babassu oil that has improved deterioration performance and is odorless, colorless, and has excellent stability over time.

The reason for refining babassu oil in this invention is that unprocessed natural babassu oil retains the characteristic odor of crude oil, and over time it also undergoes a significant so-called "odor return" phenomenon due to further oxidative deterioration, and the peroxide value also increases. It is usually difficult to improve and is extremely unsatisfactory for high-grade uses such as cosmetic raw materials. On the other hand, by refining it, it is possible to improve its characteristic odor, color, and especially stability against oxidative deterioration over time. This is because the properties can be highly improved and useful cosmetics can be obtained.

On the other hand, refined babassu oil has a melting point of 22 to 26°C, and although it is solid at room temperature of 20°C, it melts on human skin. Moreover, it is similar to natural liquid oils conventionally used in cosmetics, such as olive oil, camellia oil, Compared to soybean oil, cottonseed oil, etc., it can give a light feel without stickiness, and by taking advantage of these properties, it can be incorporated into cosmetics such as creams, milky lotions, foundations, hair creams, etc. as an ideal raw material, making it an excellent product. This is because, in addition to acting as an emollient, it is highly likely that it can be used as a pomade or a drug (external drug base) when mixed with waxes.
