Claims (1)
液晶が封入される透明基板の内面側にそれぞれ設
けられる配向膜と、透明基板の何れかの側にそれ
ぞれ設けられる電極膜と、同じく透明基板の何れ
かの側にそれぞれ設けられる偏光板と、一対の透
明基板の間に設けられ透明基板を所定の間隔に保
つスペーサと、一対の透明基板の間に封入される
液晶と、液晶を封止するシールとからなり、前記
電極膜の間に電圧を印加し、複屈折効果によつて
可変色を表示する液晶表示素子であつて、 前記スペーサの大きさを液晶セルの面方向の位
置により変えて液晶セルを面方向の何れかに傾斜
させて透明基板間の印加される電位を面方向にお
いて変化させ、その電位の変化が、表示素子を視
認した場合、その視認範囲において液晶分子の方
向と視線のなす角度が略等しくなるようにスペー
サの選択がなされることを特徴とする可変色型液
