Abstract

PURPOSE:To ensure the uniform press-contact state between a head and a disk by decreasing gradually the disk circumferential width of the clearance recessed part of a pad toward the outer circumferential part from the inner circumferential part of the disk. CONSTITUTION:A pair of sliding faces 2a and 2a existing within the same surface are positioned on the surface of a pad opposite to a disk 1 and at both end parts of the pad in the circumferential direction. Then a relief groove 2b recessed in the separating direction from the disk 1 is formed between both faces 2a and 2b. Here the disk circumferential width of the clearance groove 2b is decreased toward the outer circumferential part from the inner circumferential part of the disk 1. Thus it is possible to ensure the approximately uniform press-contact state at a case where a head 3 has a contact with the inner circumferential part of the disk 1 as well as a case where the head 3 has a contact with the outer circumferential part of the disk 1 respectively.

(Prior art and its problems) Conventionally, in floppy disk drives for various electronic devices such as electronic still cameras, a rotating magnetic disk is held between a magnetic recording/reproducing head and a pad, and the disk is placed in a relief groove provided in the pad. Among these, there is one in which the tip of the head is elastically deformed toward the pad side to obtain the necessary pressure contact between the head and the disk. In this case, the width of the relief groove in the disk circumferential direction is generally constant from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disk, as disclosed in, for example, Japanese Utility Model Application No. 59-74561.

By the way, since the center of the disk is supported by the spindle and the unilateral peripheral part is open, the deformation resistance against the head tip being suppressed is higher at the inner peripheral part than at the outer peripheral part. Therefore, if the width of the relief groove in the circumferential direction is made constant throughout the radial direction of the disk as described above, there is a problem in that a uniform pressure contact state of the head cannot be obtained at the inner and outer circumferential portions.

For this reason, it has been proposed that the relief 11η has a shape with a curvature that changes continuously from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disk (see Japanese Patent Publication No. 60-22767), but this has a complicated shape. This has the disadvantage of increasing production costs.

(Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention has been made in order to avoid the above-mentioned problems, and specifically, the width in the disk circumferential direction of the relief recess in the disk holding pad of a floppy disk device is set as above. It is characterized by a gradual decrease from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disk.

FIG. 2.3 shows a floppy disk device used in various electronic devices such as electronic still cameras. When the disk-shaped disk 1 in the floppy disk device is installed, its center is rotatably supported by a spindle (not shown in FIG. 2) connected to a drive motor, and the center portion is rotatably supported by a presser pad 2. A part of the circumferential direction is held between the magnetic recording and reproducing head 3.

FIG. 1 shows a state in which the pad 2 in FIG. 2.3 is turned over. As is clear from the figure, on the surface of the pad facing the disk l, there are a pair of sliding surfaces 2a, 2a located at both ends in the circumferential direction and existing in the same plane, and a pair of sliding surfaces 2a, 2a located between them. , a relief 1W2 recessed in the direction away from the disk l

Returning to FIG. 2, the magnetic head 3 is disposed at a position corresponding to the relief groove 2b of the pad 2, and its base is fixed to a support member 4 having an L-shape. In the support member 4, integrated slide shafts 4a, 4a are slidably supported by a guide means (not shown), and a female screw 4b provided on a flange portion projecting to the side is connected to a screw connected to the pulse motor 5. It is screwed onto the shaft 5a.

The operation of the above-mentioned floppy disk device is the same as the conventional one. In other words, the spindle causes a magnetic disk! While rotating in a predetermined direction, the magnetic head 3 is brought into pressure contact with the magnetic disk l, and magnetic recording and/or reproduction is performed while being elastically deformed toward the pad 2 within the relief M2b. As the magnetic disk l rotates in the direction of the arrow in FIG.
, A occurs and an air layer is formed between the disk 1 and the pad 2. This avoids direct contact between the magnetic disk l and the pad 2, thereby preventing damage to the disk l. By rotating the pulse motor 5, the support member 4, and thus the head 3, can be moved in the disk radial direction along the screw shaft 5a (so-called track movement). According to the present invention, the width of the relief M2b in the disk circumferential direction is gradually decreased from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disk l, so that the head 3 can move toward the inner circumference of the disk l as shown in FIG. 4(a). When the head 3 contacts the outer peripheral portion of the disk 1 as shown in FIG. 4 (1+), a substantially uniform pressure contact state can be obtained. Note that 6 in FIG. 4 is the spindle.

FIG. 5 shows a modified example. In this modification, in the pad 2, the outer circumferential ends of both tank contact surfaces 2a, 2a are connected to the sliding contact surfaces 2a, 2a.
They are connected by a sliding surface 2C that is located in the same plane as the disk 1 and extends in the circumferential direction of the disk l. Providing such a sliding contact surface 2C has the advantage that vibration in the normal direction of the disk l (so-called surface runout) can be reduced.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, according to the present invention, the width of the relief recess in the disk holding pad in the disk circumferential direction is gradually reduced from the inner circumference of the disk toward the outer circumference, and deformation due to pressure contact with the head is achieved. The circumferential width of the relief recess is widened at the inner circumference where resistance is high, and the circumferential width of the relief recess is narrowed at the outer circumference where deformation resistance is low. This reduces the restraining force of the disc by the pad at the contact area with the head. It is possible to obtain a uniform pressure contact state between the head and the disk by making the pressure contact substantially uniform between the inner circumference and the outer circumference of the disk. In addition, since the width of the relief recess is only gradually reduced from the inner circumference to the outer circumference of the disk, it is possible to simplify the shape of the relief recess and reduce manufacturing costs.
