[従来の技術]
インクジェットプリンターは、無騒音、高速、高解像度

ズルから噴出するため、ノズルの乾燥によるインク目詰
まりや、ノズル中インクの蒸発による粘度上昇のための
印字乱れ、さらにはインク系への気泡混入によるドツト
抜けの問題など、信頼性の面では不十分な点が多い。こ
れらは、特に、長期間に渡る装置の休止時におこりやす
く、そのため防止策として、本出願人から特願昭56−
16 ’9636号にあるように、休止時にインクを抜
きとり、その後、インクを洗浄する手段が考案されてい
る。該手段による洗浄は洗浄液(メンテナンス液)の能
力に大きく左右され従ってインク系の信頼性は、メンテ
ナンス液にがかる所が大きい。従来、このメンテナンス
液については、インク組成と類似の染料を抜いた組成液
が用いられていたが、洗浄力が十分でなかったり、また
インク経路に残った組成液が目詰まりの原因となったり

メンテナンス液は、第1図に示すインクジェット記録装

プ9が閉じられ吸引ポンプ8によりヘッド中のインクが

以上の4項目が、メンテナンス液の重要な特性であるが
、これら(1)〜(4)の項目を満足するためのインク
の特性としては、インクと相容性が高く、乾燥やインク
経路部材と反応して固形物を発生することがなく、さら

また、通常のインクの粘度は、2〜15mPa−5がイ
ンク噴出に適当な値であり、メンテナンス液も、あまり
粘度が高いと経路中を流れにくくなるため、インク粘度

ンク組成から固体物発生の原因となる染料をとり除いた
系がメンテナンス液として適当であったが、前述の4項
目のうち、(2)、(3)(4)の項目について不十分
であった。すなわち、単にインクから染料をとり除いた
系のメンテナンス液では、インクとの相容性が大きくな
いため液量を多く必要としたり、洗浄不十分で目詰まり
をおこしたり、またインク線路部材に対するぬれ性が不
十分であるため、インク可児てん時に、インタがすみや
かに充てんできず、インク中に気泡をとり残す場合があ
り、それによるドツト抜けのためインクジェットプリン

O3M、−COOM(MはH,Li、Na、K)を有す
る陰イオン性界面活性剤がインク経路中、及びヘッド中
で分子配向を起こすため、インク経路部材、及びヘッド
部材の表面に該管能基が配置するため非常に親水性が高
くなりぬれ性も向上する。そのため、インク可児てん時
には、インクが経路中に気泡を残すことなくすみやかに
充てんされる。管能基として−S○3M、−SO3M、
−000M (MはH,Li、Na、K)を有する陰イ
オン性界面活性剤には下記の化学式で示されるものが使

ついて試験を行った結果を表−3に示す。尚、インク経
路の洗浄力の評価については、lccのメンテナンス液
によって洗浄した後、目視によりインク経路の導管とヘ
ッド中に残った液の汚れ具合を判定した。また、洗浄後
の保守性は、lccのメンテナンス液によって洗浄した
後、室温に一ケ月放置してからヘッドのノズルを顕微鏡
で観察し、ノズルの汚れ具合を判定した。インク再充て
ん時の印字信頼性については、Iceのメンテナンス液
によって洗浄した後、室温に一ケ月放置してからインク
を可児てんし、A4記録紙に100ライン印刷した時の
