Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled liquid which has 9 high washing power for an ink system and whose residue does not have nay adverse effect on the ink system so that the system can be maintained for a long time and also an ink can be rapidly refilled, by mixing a specified alcohol, a specified anionic surface active agent, and water. CONSTITUTION:The titled maintenance liquid composed of one or more alcohols (A) selected from among methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, and isopropanol, an anionic surface active agent (B) having functional groups comprising -SO3M, -OSO3M or -COOM (wherein M is H, Li, Na or K) [e.g., RCH2COOM (wherein R is 11-17C alkyl), RSO3M (wherein R is 12-18C alkyl), and ROSO3M (wherein R is 12-18C alkyl)], and water (C). This liquid has a high washing power for an ink system and therefore enables rapid removal of an ink from the ink system. Furthermore, the remaining maintenance liquid does not have nay adverse effect on the ink system so that the system can be maintained for a long time and also an ink can be rapidly refilled.

[Prior Art] Inkjet printers have been commercialized in recent years as noiseless, high-speed, and high-resolution printers.
Since low-viscosity liquid ink is ejected from a nozzle with a micro diameter of 20 to 50 μm, it can cause ink clogging due to drying of the nozzle, printing irregularities due to increased viscosity due to evaporation of ink in the nozzle, and even air bubbles entering the ink system. There are many shortcomings in terms of reliability, such as the problem of missing dots. These problems are particularly likely to occur when the equipment is out of service for a long period of time, so as a preventive measure, the present applicant proposed
No. 16 '9636, a means has been devised for draining ink during rest and cleaning the ink afterwards. Cleaning by this means is greatly influenced by the ability of the cleaning liquid (maintenance liquid), and therefore, the reliability of the ink system largely depends on the maintenance liquid. Conventionally, this maintenance liquid has been used with a composition similar to the ink composition but without the dye, but the cleaning power was not sufficient, and the composition liquid remaining in the ink path could cause clogging. There were many deficiencies.

[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] The purpose of the present invention is to solve the problem of conventional maintenance fluids that have been insufficient. Furthermore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a maintenance liquid for inkjet recording, which allows the remaining maintenance liquid to be maintained for a long period of time without adversely affecting the ink system, and in which ink maintenance can be quickly carried out.

The maintenance liquid is used in the inkjet recording apparatus shown in FIG. 1 is a recording head; 2 is a nozzle surface thereof; since the head 1 receives ink from an ink tank 5 for printing, a switching valve 4 is connected to the head 1 and the ink tank 5; In case of long-term suspension or cleaning of the path in case of clogging, the switching valve 4 is connected to the head 1 and the maintenance liquid tank 6, the suction cap 9 is closed, and the ink in the head is removed by the suction pump 8 for maintenance. The waste liquid is replaced with liquid and discharged into the waste liquid tank 7.

メンテナンス液として、要求される特性としては、 (1)インク経路を形成する部材をおかさないこと。As a maintenance fluid, the characteristics required are: (1) Do not damage the members that form the ink path.

(2)少量の液で、経路中のインクを排出できること。(2) The ink in the path can be discharged with a small amount of liquid.

(4) When filling the ink, the maintenance liquid in the path should fill the ink quickly and should not generate bubbles or bubble nuclei in the ink.

The above four items are important properties of the maintenance fluid. The characteristics of the ink that satisfies these items (1) to (4) include high compatibility with the ink, drying and ink path components. It is preferable to use a material that does not generate solid matter by reacting with the ink and has high wettability with respect to the ink path member.

Further, the viscosity of normal ink is 2 to 15 mPa-5, which is an appropriate value for ink jetting, and the maintenance liquid is also preferably 5 times or less the viscosity of the ink, because if the viscosity is too high, it becomes difficult to flow in the path.

In order to satisfy these characteristics, a system in which the dye that causes solid matter generation is removed from the conventional ink composition is suitable as a maintenance liquid, but among the four items mentioned above, (2) , (3) and (4) were insufficient. In other words, a maintenance liquid that simply removes the dye from the ink may not be compatible with the ink, requiring a large amount of liquid, or may cause clogging due to insufficient cleaning, or may cause wetting of the ink line member. Due to the insufficient adhesiveness, when filling with ink, the interlayer may not fill up quickly and air bubbles may be left behind in the ink, which can cause dots to drop out and reduce the reliability of inkjet printers.

According to the composition of the maintenance liquid of the present invention, methanol,
Since alcohols selected from ethanol, n-propanol, and isopropanol have very high compatibility with aqueous inks, they can clean the ink path. Further, after cleaning and discharging, some maintenance liquid remains in the ink path, but because the ink path dries due to the volatility of alcohol, maintenance is not required for a long time until the ink is refilled. Furthermore, when the maintenance liquid dries, the tube functional group contained in the liquid is 18○3M, -S.
Since the anionic surfactant having O3M, -COOM (M is H, Li, Na, K) causes molecular orientation in the ink path and in the head, the tube is formed on the surface of the ink path member and the head member. Due to the arrangement of functional groups, it becomes extremely hydrophilic and improves wettability. Therefore, when the ink is filled, the ink is quickly filled without leaving any air bubbles in the path. -S○3M, -SO3M as tube functional groups,

The maintenance liquid of the present invention does not contain any compositions that are normally solid or can become solid when dried, except for the above-mentioned surfactant, which is used for pH adjustment and antiseptic and antifungal effects. . Further, the maintenance liquid of the present invention is obtained by filtering it through a membrane filter having a pore size of 1 μm or less after liquid preparation in order to remove dust, foreign matter, and particles that are generally present in water or air.

The maintenance liquid with the composition shown in Tables 1 and 2 was filled into the maintenance liquid tank of our prototype inkjet recording device shown in Fig. Table 3 shows the results of testing for printing reliability during filling. Regarding the evaluation of the cleaning power of the ink path, after cleaning with LCC maintenance liquid, the degree of contamination of the liquid remaining in the ink path conduit and the head was visually determined. In addition, maintainability after cleaning was determined by cleaning with LCC maintenance liquid, leaving the nozzles at room temperature for one month, and then observing the nozzles of the head with a microscope to determine how dirty the nozzles were. Printing reliability after refilling the ink was determined by whether or not there were any missing dots when 100 lines were printed on A4 recording paper after cleaning with Ice maintenance fluid and leaving the ink at room temperature for a month. .
