Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce an irregularity in temperature and to obtain superior response by heating a heat development photosensitive material or image receiving material by a heat pipe whose one end is dipped in an oil heater. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material 16 and image receiving paper 32 are send in between the heat pipe 44 and a pressure roller 46 at a heat development/transfer part part 28. The heat pipe 44 is heated by the oil 60 in an oil bath 56 and its surface is held at uniform temperature by its heating medium, so a necessary quantity of heat is given to the photosensitive material 16 and image receiving paper 32 and a coloring matter image which is developed thermally and formed is transferred thermally to the emulsion surface of the image receiving paper 32. This transfer operation is carried out extremely excellently because a necessary amount of water is already given to the image receiving paper 32. Specially, the heating value of the oil 60 is large, so there is no response delay in heating the photosensitive material 16 and image receiving paper 32, which are heated uniformly.

As shown in Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 59-75247, an image recording device that obtains a color image using a heat-developable photosensitive material exposes an image to the heat-developable photosensitive material in an exposure section and then sends it to a heat developing section. There is known a method in which an image receiving paper is brought into close contact with a photosensitive material, and an image is transferred to the image receiving paper through a transfer process.

In this device, development and transfer are performed using a heat roller. This heat roller is provided with a heater on the opposite side of the conveyance path of the photosensitive material or image-receiving material, and is heated by the heater to a desired temperature to apply a predetermined amount of heat to the photosensitive material or image-receiving material. This causes a time delay before the heat roller receives heat from the heater and heats the photosensitive material or image-receiving material, and causes temperature unevenness in the axial direction of the heat roller.

In consideration of the above-mentioned facts, the present invention aims to provide a heating device for an image recording apparatus that has less temperature unevenness and excellent responsiveness.

In the thermal development/transfer section 28, as shown in FIG. 2, the photosensitive material 16 and the image receiving paper 32 are sandwiched and conveyed between a heat pipe 44 and a pressure roller 46. The middle portion of the heat pipe 44 is pivotally supported by a bracket 48 that stands up from the machine stand 12 via bearings 50 and 52. One end of the heat pipe 44 is connected to a variable speed motor 54, which determines the processing time for development and transfer.
Further, the rotational force of the motor 54 is received to generate a force for feeding out the photosensitive material 16 and the image receiving paper 32.

The other end of the heat pipe 44 penetrates through a seal 58 into an oil bath 56 placed on the machine stand 12. Oil 60 is filled in the oil bath 56 and heated to a desired temperature by a heater 62 controlled by a temperature controller (not shown) having a temperature sensor. Further, this oil 60 is stirred by a stirrer 64, so that the oil 60 is always kept at a uniform temperature.

Therefore, the heat medium in the heat pipe 44 is heated by the oil 60 and evaporates, reaching the intermediate portion and the vicinity of the other end where the motor 54 is connected, and heating the photosensitive material 16 and image receiving paper 32 passing through it. It is cooled to become a liquid, circulated through an internal wick, and heated again by oil 60. Note that the heater 62 may be a so-called throw-in heater.

In the thermal development/transfer section 28 , the photosensitive material 16 and the image receiving paper 32 are fed between a heat pipe 44 and a pressure roller 46 . The heat pipe 44 is connected to the oil 60 in the oil bath 56.
Since the surface is heated to a uniform temperature by the heating medium, the necessary amount of heat can be applied to the photosensitive material 16 and the image receiving paper 32, and the dye image formed by heat development can be transferred to the image receiving paper 32. can be thermally transferred to the emulsion surface. In this transfer operation, the required amount of water has already been properly applied to the image receiving paper 32, so that an extremely good transfer operation can be performed.
