Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture on ornamental material of novel design by putting mosaically noble-metla material pieces having difference in melting point on the surface of a noble-metal base material and by heating the base material into semimolten state. CONSTITUTION:The surface of the sheet-like or bar-shaped base material 1 consisting of a noble metal such as Au, etc., or a noble-metal alloy is inlayed with the noble-metal material pieces 2 such as Pt, etc., having difference in melting point as compared with the base material 1 and different in color tone into the mosaic condition of required design. This material is heated by means of a torch burner, etc., up to a temp. right under the melting point where the base material 1 is formed into semimolten state, so that noble-metal material pieces 2 are diffused into the base material 1. In this way, a mosaic cladding material for ornamental and personal-ornament material can be manufactured with high operability.

On the surface of a plate-shaped or rod-shaped base material made of a precious metal or a precious metal alloy, pieces of one or more different colors of precious metal materials having a melting point different from that of the base material are dispersed in a desired design on the surface of the base material, and then they are placed in a furnace. By setting the temperature to just below the melting point of the base material, which indicates a semi-molten state, and introducing the base material with the above-mentioned precious metal material pieces dispersed into the furnace, the precious metal material pieces are diffused on the surface of the base material to create a mosaic-patterned cladding. This is the manufacturing method for obtaining the material.

As described above, the mosaic pattern decorative material according to the present invention is
By arranging the precious metal alloy pieces, which are patterned pieces, on the surface of the base material in an arbitrary pattern and heating the base material in a furnace or burner to a semi-molten state, just below the melting point, the base material and the patterned pieces are diffused, creating a mosaic-like pattern. Not only can a cladding material be manufactured, an innovative design not found in conventional cladding materials with different color tones can be obtained, but it is also highly workable and has the effect of providing a fixed material suitable for mass production.
