Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a recording paper to be taken out in a flat state, by a method wherein a curl of the recording paper generated when preheating or heating the recording paper is smoothed out by a roller or a recording paper guide provided at a recording paper feeding part. CONSTITUTION:A fixed platen 1 is provided with a heat generating element 12 on the back side thereof not facing a recording head 5. A recording paper 3 is brought into sliding contact with the platen 1 heated by the element 12, whereby it is preheated or heated before, during and after ink jet recording, through contact heat transfer. When the recording paper is heated and dried, the paper 3 is curled in conformity with the shape of the platen 1 due to the heat. To smooth out this curl, a curl-smoothing roller 14 for curving the paper 3 in a direction opposite to the direction of the curl after the ink jet recording is provided at a recording paper feeding part.
