Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the cost by making a readout scan on a reflective original and a transmissive original with the same illumination light source, and providing an optical path for a reflection read and an optical path for a transmission read as different systems and guiding light to a common CCD line image sensor. CONSTITUTION:When the reflective original is read out through a movable mirror 10, the light source 3 irradiate the reflective original on an original moving table 2 along a readout line A and reflected light is made incident on the CCD line image sensor 7 through the optical path of a reflected mirror 5, the movable mirror 10, and a readout lens 6. A light scattering plate 12 places on the original moving table 2, an original holder 13, and a unit 11 forming an optical path to the sensor 7 are used to read the transmissive original. When the transmissive original 1 is read, light from the lighr source 4 is transmitted through the original moving table 2 to strike the light scattering plate 12, and then scattered to pass through the original 1 and a film cover 14. Light reflected by reflecting mirrors 8, 9, and 10 reaches the sensor 7 through the readout lens 6.

Information about the document 1 on the reading line A is transmitted onto the elements of the CCD line image sensor 7 by the reflecting mirror 5 and the reading lens 6. That is, an image of the reading line A is created by the reading lens 6 on the element of the CCD line image sensor 7. The original l moves in the direction of the arrow B at a predetermined timing, and the CCD line image is created in synchronization with the timing. The original is read by the sensor 7 reading the information on the original (■).
