Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce consumption of compressed air by preventing spouting of compressed air from an air inlet which does not oppose to an article to be transported by check valve construction including a sphere in transporting an article to be transported using a static pressure gas bearing. CONSTITUTION:A large number of concave spots 13 are formed over a generally overall length of a slide table 12 at appropriate intervals and an air inlet 15 branching from an air supply passage 14 is formed at each concave spot 13 with a holder 16 being buried. The holder 16 consists of a sphere 17 made of a steel ball and so forth and a housing 18 which protrudes the top of the sphere 17 by the prescribed height from the upper plane of the slide table 12 and rotatably suports the sphere 17.
